Venom’s Symbiotes Are Evolving into a “Carnivorous New Species” in Marvel Lore

An upcoming issue of Venom continues the anti-hero’s latest encounter with arch antagonist, Carnage, in what appears set to be their most brutal confrontation of all time. The advanced synopsis also hints that it could contain a major change to Marvel’s symbiote lore, as Marvel’s most fearsome alien creatures are set to evolve into a new, even deadlier form.

Venom #32 continues the brutal confrontation between Eddie Brock and his symbiote’s unhinged off-spring. Carnage recently reinserted himself into this Venom run at the conclusion of issue #30, claiming to have killed Eddie’s son Dylan,

Over the last several years, both Venom and Carnage have become significantly more exciting characters, and now, the two cosmic powerhouses will brawl across the Marvel spacetime continuum once more. As both characters have had god-level upgrades, this is likely to be there most knock-down, drag-out, impactful battle yet.

Marvel’s Symbiotes Are Preparing To Climb Another Rung On The Evolutionary Ladder

Much like his colleague Jonathan Hickman, writer Al Ewing has become one of Marvel’s go-to creators when it comes to remixing and reinventing stories from the publisher’s long, complicated history. His current Venom run, along with his tenure on Immortal Hulk, and his ongoing Immortal Thor series – which has increasingly become a metafictional adventure into the nature of storytelling itself – have all contributed to making Ewing central to the overall project of elevating Marvel to the next level of storytelling, for a new era.

With the intriguing tease that a “carniverous new species” of symbiote is set to be introduced, Venom #32 continues to show Marvel’s deep faith in the book’s creative team. The series has been an exciting, sweeping journey throughout Ewing’s time as writer, and now, the pieces are being maneuvered into place for the massive upcoming Venom War event. Symbiotes Have Taken An Increasingly Central Role In Marvel Lore

The history of the symbiotes in the Marvel Universe went unexplored for many years following the introduction of the concept in Spider-Man lore. More recently, Marvel has answered many questions about the symbiotes, including introducing Knull, the God of Symbiotes, and the idea of the “King in Black.” Symbiotes continue to radically evolve, and Venom #32 appears set to push them to yet another stage of their development. With War looming, it remains an entirely unsettled question with Venom will remain Marvel’s most powerful symbiote, or be deposed by his greatest nemesis.
