Created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sara Pichelli in 2011, Miles Morales originally replaced Peter Parker as Spider-Man in the Ultimate Universe. While Miles served as an alternate universe Spider-Man for many years after his introduction, he now fights crime alongside Peter Parker in Marvel’s main 616 universe in the new Spectacular Spider-Men title.
In the past five years, Miles has starred or appeared in some amazing Marvel comics. In his own series, Miles Morales teamed up with the Prowler and experienced his own headache-inducing Clone Saga. Miles teams up with Peter once more in other titles and even travels the Spider-Verse during an impressive five-year run of Amazing Spider-Man comics.
10 A Miles Morales Thor, Hulk & More
What If…? Miles Morales
While nothing beats the classic, these alternate Miles Morales versions from other universes were fun stars of the What If…? Miles Morales miniseries. Marvel Comics readers met Miles as Hulk, Thor, Wolverine and Captain America. The Wolverine costume even made it into Insomniac’s new Spider-Man 2 game.
While What If…? Miles Morales is more flash than substance, it is just as fun as any Spider-Verse story that came before and once again proves how great a leader Miles is. It won’t be long before Miles leads his own Marvel super-team.
9 Spider-Man & The Prowler Team Up
Miles Morales: Spider-Man – “Family Business”
Spider-Man’s Most Twisted Clone Goes Rogue in Marvel’s New Comics This Week
Spider-Man’s most complicated clone is back from the hellish prison in Limbo in Marvel’s new comics this week.
The Prowler is a huge part of Miles Morales’ story. The original Prowler served as a Bronze Age Spider-Man antagonist who later teamed up with Peter Parker on many occasions, helping him conceal his identity during the Worldwide era. Connecting Miles Morales and Aaron Davis was a brilliant move that gave the young, new Spider-Man an instant connection to vigilantism.
“Family Business” is about the bond between Miles Morales and the Prowler. With guest appearances from the Rhino and even the Green Goblin from the Ultimate Universe, Miles must help the Prowler return to New York and avoid death.
8 A Spider-Man Comic For Kids
Peter Parker & Miles Morales: Spider-Men Double Trouble
From the creative team of Mariko Tamaki, Vita Ayala, and Gurihiru comes Peter Parker & Miles Morales: Spider-Men Double Trouble, a fun, kid-friendly team-up comic illustrated in the same style as the Spider-Man/Venom and Thor/Loki team-up books. While doom and gloom populate many mainline Spider-Man comics, Double Trouble offers a fun escape from fatal Parker Luck.
Miles Morales seeks to prove himself just as capable a Spider-Man as his partner, while Peter Parker believes Miles to be his trusty sidekick and strives to improve his mentoring skills. Their views of their alliance clash during battles against the Sinister Six and even Thanos.
7 Carnage Becomes Miles Morales’ Worst Nightmare
Absolute Carnage: Miles Morales
Carnage is one of the most terrifying villains in the Marvel universe and Absolute Carnage captures that terror. Absolute Carnage redefined the classic Spider-Man villain like King in Black and revolutionized the symbiotes. Miles Morales and Scorpion form an unlikely alliance in this small, three-part sliver of the larger Absolute Carnage story.
Carnage is death incarnate and all-consuming. The idea of being completely overtaken by the Carnage symbiote is horrifying, and artists Federico Vicentini and Erick Arciniega definitely made this miniseries feel like a horror movie. For those wanting a break from multiversal Miles Morales stories, Absolute Carnage replaces them with a little sci-fi/horror.
6 Miles Morales Meets His Evil Clone
Miles Morales: Spider-Man – “The Clone Saga”
15 Best Quotes In Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse
With Gwen Stacy’s promise, Miles’ introduction, and Peter B. Parker’s inspiring speech, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is full of great quotes.
The Spider-Man “Clone Saga” from the ’90s, which spanned nearly a dozen different Spider-Man comic titles with a constant rotation that forced readers to buy four series a month, was unsurprisingly divisive. So why not create a new “Clone Saga,” this time for Miles Morales?
Instead of the Jackal, Selim, Miles’ evil clone, serves as the main villain for Miles Morales: Spider-Man‘s “Clone Saga.” Thankfully, this “Clone Saga” didn’t last several years like the ’90s version. Selim was also a great Spider-Man villain that has, and likely will, appear in future Miles comics.
5 Spider-Man & Shift Travel To Alternate Worlds
Miles Morales: Spider-Man – “Empire of the Spider”
After 30 issues defending his Brooklyn and New York City, Miles Morales hopped to another universe to save their Brooklyn (as he tends to do). Miles Morales and Spider-Verse stories seem to mesh so well. While Peter’s story became more grounded in the sixth volume of Amazing Spider-Man, Miles’ grew more multiversal.
With Clone Sagas and multiversal travel, the stories in Miles Morales: Spider-Man grew wilder and larger, expanding even more in “Empire of the Spider” with the return of Selim, an evil Miles Morales clone. With a new costume and old allies at his side like Shift and Prowler, “Empire of the Spider” was a fantastic Miles Morales comic.
4 Miles Morales Travels The Spider-Verse Again
Spider-Verse (Vol. 3)
Spider-Woman Is Finally Teaming Up With the Spider-Verse’s Newest Hero
Spider-Woman is one half of a Marvel team-up between heroes who are still reeling from being erased from reality entirely.
Miles Morales has become synonymous with the Spider-Verse in the past five years. Miles was the main character of Spider-Geddon, the sequel to the original Spider-Verse comic series, and he, of course, stars as the main Spider-Man in the Across the Spider-Verse film. In pop culture, Miles is arguably as popular as Peter Parker.
The third volume of Spider-Verse ran for six issues and again placed Miles in the starring role. As the Ultimate Universe version of Miles falls into the Web of Life and Destiny, he travels to new worlds, fighting alongside old faces (like Peni Parker and Spider-Woman) who may seem familiar to Spider-Verse movie fans.
3 Miles Morales Cameos In Life Story
Spider-Man: Life Story
No question, Spider-Man: Life Story is Peter’s story. However, Miles plays a large role in the miniseries’ final issue. Granted, for most of issue #6, Miles is actually Doctor Octopus. Life Story adapted the Superior Spider-Man arc, placing Doc Ock in Miles’ head.
However, as the story ends, Peter Parker sacrifices his life to save his loved ones, and Mary Jane gifts Miles, who has reclaimed his body, with a version of Peter’s original costume. Miles represents Peter’s legacy. Miles Morales will carry the Spider-Man mantle and pass it on to the next generation of heroes who follow him.
2 Miles Morales Stars In His All-New Spider-Man Comics
Miles Morales: Spider-Man – “Straight Out of Brooklyn”
“Straight Out of Brooklyn” kicked off the new Miles Morales: Spider-Man comic series that began in 2019. Miles was always the “Spider-Man of the Ultimate Universe,” but now he exists in the same 616 universe as Peter Parker.
He isn’t just an alternate Spider-Man anymore, but a Spider-Man who stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the original. Facing threats like Rhino and Tombstone, and even new faces like Starling, Miles Morales really comes into his own in this series, defending Brooklyn––his own large slice of New York––and all his supporting cast.
1 Peter Parker & Miles Morales: Spider-Men
The Spectacular Spider-Men
Peter Parker and Miles Morales are The Spectacular Spider-Men in Marvel’s New Comics This Week
Peter Parker and Mile Morales swing into action for The Spectacular Spider-Men in Marvel’s new comics this week.
Peter and Miles first officially teamed up during the original Spider-Men miniseries. Still, they’ve tag-teamed Spider-Man duties for years in books like Spider-Verse, Spider-Geddon and Amazing Spider-Man‘s “Last Remains” and “Gang War.” However, nothing beats an entire ongoing series dedicated solely to Peter and Miles. Enter The Spectacular Spider-Men.
Peter and Miles’ personal lives combine as they work in graceful harmony. Their interactions are hilarious, and their banter in combat proves that these two have been separated in multiple comic titles for far too long.
The Amazing Spider-Man
