Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Spectacular Spider-Men #6’s “Weapon X-Traction” Part 7!Deadpool and Wolverine unarguably make one of the best duos in Marvel Comics history, something that was just solidified in the live-action MCU blockbuster, Deadpool & Wolverine. However, even though they’re an iconic team, the two don’t exactly get along. At least, not their main-continuity selves, anyway, as there are versions of Deadpool and Wolverine out in the multiverse that are actually best friends – including their “superior” variants.

In Weapon X-Traction Part 7 (of 8) by Ryan North and Javier Garrón (which can be found at the end of Spectacular Spider-Men #6 by Greg Weisman and Humberto Ramos), Deadpool and Wolverine come face-to-face with a cosmic being known as Atleza Langunn. Langunn plucked Earth-616’s Deadpool and Wolverine from their universe and gave them a multiverse-saving adventure to go on together for one specific purpose: to make them best friends.

In every other universe, Deadpool and Wolverine are besties. It’s only in Earth-616 that they can’t stand each other, and this cosmic being wanted to change that. However, the two fail to spark a genuine friendship, and as a result, the multiverse is in grave danger. So, Atleza Langunn recruits the two best versions of Deadpool and Wolverine to help them save the multiverse: Superior Deadpool and Superior Wolverine.

Out of all of Wolverine’s superpowers, one stands as arguably the most useful, and definitely the least remembered – & it just returned to canon.

Deadpool & Wolverine’s “Superior” Variants are Just Like Them, Only Nicer & More Handsome

At this point, very little is known about Deadpool and Wolverine’s “superior” variants, other than that they are best friends and are more conventionally attractive than Earth-616’s versions. Based on what Atleza Langunn revealed about the countless other Wolverine and Deadpool variants scattered across the multiverse (and where these two stand among them), the strength of their friendship is really what makes them superior, granting them the power to save the entire multiverse.

Obviously, this is totally absurd in the most hilarious way possible, as this comic is asserting that Deadpool and Wolverine would be cosmic-level heroes if they just tapped into the ‘power of friendship’. But, then again, maybe that’s not so crazy after all. Deadpool and Wolverine are practically immortal, and if they worked together full-time and weren’t distracted by their petty arguments, perhaps they could be unstoppable just like their “superior” counterparts claim to be.

Superior Deadpool & Superior Wolverine are Just Begging for an MCU Adaptation

After the events of Deadpool & Wolverine, the two iconic X-Men heroes/antiheroes are now firmly set in the MCU, as is every one of their multiversal variants – which could include their “superior” counterparts. With the comedic tone surrounding the very nature of these characters’ existences, Superior Deadpool and Superior Wolverine are just begging to be in the MCU, as they would fit in perfectly within Deadpool’s established corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which would allow them to shine in truly hilarious fashion.

Regardless of whether they get the MCU treatment, it’s interesting to consider that there are versions of Deadpool and Wolverine out there in the multiverse that are better than the classic characters, with the main reason being that they are best friends, and can therefore handle multiversal emergencies. Perhaps Earth-616’s Deadpool and Wolverine will reach this level, but until then, fans will have to be satisfied with their “superior” variants, who use the power of friendship (and handsomeness) to achieve their ultimate forms.

Spectacular Spider-Men #6’s “Weapon X-Traction” Part 7 by Marvel Comics is available now.

Wolverine

The human mutant Wolverine (a.k.a. Logan) was born James Howlett, blessed with a superhuman healing factor, senses, and physiology. Subjecting himself to experimentation to augment his skeleton and claws with adamantium, Logan is as deadly as he is reckless, impulsive, and short-tempered. Making him the X-Men’s wildest and deadliest member, and one of Marvel Comics’ biggest stars. He’s played in Fox and Marvel’s movie franchises by Hugh Jackman.
