On May 24, 2025, it was announced that comics and television writer Peter David had passed away after dealing with persistent health complications. After a brief career as a journalist and science fiction short story submitter, David began his career in comics within the publishing division of Marvel Comics, eventually crossing over into writing after successfully selling stories for the Spider-Man titles. Among them were issues 107-110 of Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man known as “The Death Of Jean DeWolff,” which received notoriety for its darker subject matter and mystery storytelling. At rival company DC Comics, David had success creating the team comic Young Justice, which went on to be adapted into an animated TV series teleplays, along with acclaimed work on major characters like Aquaman and Supergirl.
