Two new Transformers action figures recreate iconic moments from the classic Marvel.
According toTformers.com, Transformers Generations Comic Edition Shockwave and Grimlock are based on the characters’ appearances from the Transformers comic books by Marvel Comics. This includes box art based on the covers of its issues, and accessories based on the storylines, as well. Cast in similarly classic color schemes, these figures are part of the franchise’s 40th anniversary celebration.

Transformers Generations Comic Edition Shockwave Recreates Marvel Cover
The inclusion of Shockwave in the Transformers Generations Comic Edition toyline makes perfect sense, as his visage was on one of the most iconic Transformers comic book covers of all time. Recreating the cover from Marvel’s The Transformers #5, the toy is a lavender-colored repaint of the Transformers: War for Cybertron: Siege toyline. Said lighter color scheme heavily contrasts with the darker coloration of that toy’s original release, in doing so, becoming more accurate to his appearance in the comic book.
Shockwave transforms into a purple Cybertronian battleship that resembles his original G1 laser gun alternate mode. On top of this, he comes packaged with a display stand featuring Optimus Prime’s severed head. Again, this recreates a story element from the aforementioned comic book, completing the set for fans nostalgic about the classic Marvel series.

Generations Comic Edition Grimlock Brings the Dinobot Commander to Life
Based on the lighter coloration from the comics, Generations Comic Edition Grimlock comes in a box that features the cover of The Transformers #8. The figure is a repaint of the Transformers: Studios Series toy that emulated Grimlock’s appearance from The Transformers: The Movie. Grimlock comes with a crown from the comic books, denoting him as the leader of the Dinobots (and at the time, the Autobots as a whole). Likewise, he has three swords, two of which are meant to be used for the Studio Series Swoop and Slag/Slug figures.
The sword meant for Grimlock has a chipped appearance because of the way late artist José Delbo drew the weapon in the Marvel Transformers comic book series. He also has a double-barreled blaster based on the original toy. Transforming into a mighty T.rex, Grimlock is set to retail for $59.99 USD. On the other hand, Shockwave will only cost $39.99 USD. While exact dates for pre-orders and releases are unknown, both toys are set to come out in Summer 2024.
