Spider-Man transforms the X-Men‘s worst enemy, Orchis’ most terrifying weapon into a boon for humanity and mutantkind alike.

While Nightcrawler and Kate Pryde take it upon themselves to care for an ailing Synch in the pages of X-Men #31, Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel are busy carrying out a less intimate yet no less important mission of their own. From atop the Oscorp building in the heart of New York City, the two coordinate the clandestine trajectory of the High Evolutionary’s bio-bomb as it races across the skyline. Rather than spreading gene-altering substances or harmful chemicals as the High Evolutionary intended, however, this bio-bomb has been retrofitted to deliver the cure for the damage Orchis did when they manipulated the same Krakoan medicines that thousands of human beings all across the globe rely on.

Carnage Is Fighting its Most Gruesome Battle Against Marvel’s Worst Serial Killer

The most dangerous symbiote in the Marvel Universe is fighting for its life against its most lethal and influential host.

Krakoan medicines were one of the biggest developments and exports for the mutant nation. Created from Krakoa’s unique mutant flora, the medicines were distributed worldwide to thousands if not millions of human beings. These included Mary Jane Watson’s aunt Anna, whose experience with the medicines was life-changing in only the best of ways up until Orchis’ manipulations of the same drugs became apparent.

By hacking the Krakoan medicines, Orchis was able to turn ordinary people into raving, violent versions of themselves. This made it appear as if mutantkind had tainted their own drugs in a bid to upset human society all across the globe, ultimately standing as what may have been Orchis’ most devastating piece of anti-mutant propaganda.

Spider-Man 2099’s Next High-Tech “Hero” Introduces Marvel’s Newest Monster Breed

The latest monster in the world of Marvel 2099 confuses Spider-Man — and he has no idea whether he should actually be fighting back.

First introduced in the pages of 1966’s Thor #134 by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, the High Evolutionary was formerly known as the otherwise ordinary scientist Herbert Wyndham. Wyndham’s obsession with genetic perfection drove him to develop a serum that, when consumed, transformed him into the villainous High Evolutionary, imbuing him with a variety of superhuman powers and attributes. Though not particularly prominent throughout Fall of X, the High Evolutionary was the focus of an effort by Synch and the original Laura Kinney, now known as Talon, to forcibly recruit him in the fight against Orchis. Instead, the High Evolutionary destroyed Talon’s body entirely, leaving only her consciousness behind in the mind of Synch.
