It’s increasingly looking like those craving new single-player Marvel games on PS5 are going to have to wait quite a while. Just as fans try to figure out what’s going on with Insomniac Games’ Wolverine, news has surfaced that Arkane Studios’ Marvel’s Blade only entered production at the end of 2024.
Although Marvel’s Blade has yet to be officially confirmed for the PS5, we now fully expect most — if not all — Microsoft single-player games to eventually land on Sony’s platform.
With Wolverine nowhere to be seen, Skydance’s Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra delayed, EA’s Black Panther canceled, we were hoping to get our hands on Marvel’s Blade in the near future, but it doesn’t look like that’ll be happening either.
Hawk-eyed fans spotted Arkane Studios’ latest financial report in French media, a translation of which states that the production phase of Marvel’s Blade “was able to commence at the end of 2024, after the validation of the prototype.”
What this means is that it’ll be at least 2-3 years before Marvel’s Blade releases on Xbox platforms, followed by a PS5 release.
In the interim, one can only hope that Wolverine will finally resurface in 2026 and Rise of Hydra — which is being written by none other than Uncharted’s Amy Hennig — won’t be delayed further.
For multiplayer fans, there’s always Marvel Rivals and the upcoming Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, which will release in 2026.
