The original Spider-Verse comic opened so many doors in Spider-Man comics. The Amazing Spider-Man was no longer just a friendly neighborhood hero. He was no longer just an Avenger. Suddenly, Peter Parker was a universe-hopping hero, teaming up with alternate versions of himself or others who gained spider-powers like Ultimate Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy’s Spider-Woman.

Spider-Verse also brought many new readers to Spider-Man’s world. For those readers more interested in Spider-Man’s multiversal adventures, Marvel has luckily published plenty of unique books to scratch that itch, from the Spider-Verse sequel Spider-Geddon to Spider-Gwen’s solo adventures and Venom‘s multiversal comic events and so much more.

10 Miles Morales Led The Spider-Verse Sequel Comic

Spider-Geddon (October 2018) by Christos Gage & Jorge Molina

Spider-Geddon is the sequel to the Spider-Verse comic event. However, instead of placing the spotlight once again on Peter Parker, Miles Morales became the star of the show. Spider-Geddon displayed Miles’s team leadership skills without relying on Peter Parker’s experience or mentorship.

The Inheritors are back, though never as imposing as in the original Spider-Verse. The villains aren’t the focus of Spider-Geddon, though, because Doctor Octopus’s Superior Spider-Man is back, and he brought Insomniac’s Spider-Man from the PlayStation games with him. They rounded out a roster of new and familiar faces from the original Spider-Verse comic.

9 Spider-Gwen Starred In Her Own Spider-Verse Event

Spider-Gwen: Gwenverse (March 2022) by Tim Seeley, Jodi Nishijima & Federico Blee

In 2022, Marvel Comics published the five-issue Spider-Gwen: Gwenverse miniseries. Spider-Gwen, a.k.a. Ghost-Spider, has become the dominant Spider-hero in multiversal adventures, so she naturally starred in her own “Spider-Verse.”

Spider-Gwen has starred in multiple solo series across her relatively short history and has met plenty of variants, from Nightbird to Gwenverine.

8 Dan Slott Ended the Spider-Verse Dramatically

End of the Spider-Verse (October 2022) by Dan Slott, Mark Bagley, John Dell & Edgar Delgado

Spider-Verse launched the multiversal madness that consumed Spider-Man comics for years. For better or worse, Spider-man comics have been dominated by multiversal story arcs for a long time. Despite Dan Slott’s conclusion to his Spider-Verse epic, “End of the Spider-Verse,” these multiverse stories aren’t going anywhere.

“End of the Spider-Verse” doesn’t recapture the magic of the original Spider-Verse comic (something that no subsequent Spider-Verse comic will likely achieve). Still, it adds another fun multiverse story to Spider-Man’s resume. Fans who loved the cameos and appearances from the strangest Spider-Men and Women in Spider-Verse will find more of that in “End of the Spider-Verse.”

She teamed up with the Amazing Spider-Man from Earth-616 and protected several major characters in the arc. Fans who loved her supporting role in Spider-Verse should absolutely check out her starring role in the 1998 Spider-Girl comic.

6 Miles Morales Became The Ultimate Spider-Man

Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man (September 2011) by Brian Michael Bendis, Sara Pichelli & Justin Ponsor

In a domino effect, fans who fell in love with the original Spider-Verse comic likely went to the theaters to watch Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Both animated Spider-Verse movies focused on Miles Morales, placing Miles in the spotlight and making him a household name beyond regular Marvel comic readers.

For any Marvel fans who hopped on the Miles Morales fan wagon a little later than others, there are Miles Morales’s first comic appearances in Ultimate Fallout and Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man. Miles’s earliest adventures follow a similar structure to the animated films: Miles becomes the new Spider-Man after Peter Parker’s death, creating a sense of familiarity for new fans looking to catch up with Miles’s comic book history.

5 Spider-Gwen’s Companion Comic To Spider-Verse

Spider-Gwen (February 2015) by Jason Latour, Robbi Rodriguez & Rico Renzi

Spider-Gwen originally debuted in Edge of Spider-Verse #2, showcasing various alternate versions of Spider-man and Spider-Woman from across the Web of Life and Destiny. 4 The Amazing Spider-Man Meets The Man Of Steel

Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man: The Battle of the Century (March 1976) by Gerry Conway, Ross Andru & Dick Giordano

Spider-Man crossed Marvel’s multiverse and met alternate versions of himself, but Peter Parker actually hopped universes decades earlier when he teamed up with the Man of Steel in 1976. In the mid-70s, Marvel and DC teamed up to publish several crossover comics that paired Batman with the Hulk, the Uncanny X-Men with the New Teen Titans, and, most prominently, Superman and the Amazing Spider-Man.

Marvel and DC fans will love this crossover event that honors both heroes. Out of costume, Peter Parker and Clark Kent have witty banter and dialogue, while Superman and Spider-Man eventually team up to battle Lex Luthor and Doctor Octopus.

3 Venom Starred In His Own Spider-Verse

Venomverse (November 2017) by Cullen Bunn & Iban Coello

Several years after the success of the original Spider-Verse comic event, Marvel Comics gave Venom his own multiversal comic event, Venomverse. Doctor Strange recruits Venom to lead an army of alternate-universe symbiotes against evil Venoms and Poisons who have been taking over heroes and villains across Marvel’s multiverse.

Venomverse proved that Venom could sustain his own large-scale Marvel event several years before King in Black.

2 More & More Spider-Verse Adventures

Edge of Spider-Verse (September 2014) by David Hine, Fabrice Sapolsky, Richard Isanove, Jason Latour, Dustin Weaver & many more

When a comic cover showcases dinosaur versions of Spider-Man and Venom fighting, readers know they’re in for a wild ride. Edge of Spider-Verse was originally a companion miniseries published alongside Dan Slott’s Spider-Verse comic event. Over the past several years, Marvel has published many volumes of Edge of Spider-Verse, each showcasing a new or popular Spider-hero from the multiverse.

Gwen Stacy’s Spider-Woman and Spider-Man Noir have starred in previous Edge of Spider-Verse comics, while newcomers like a Black Cat/Spider-Man hybrid called Night-Spider have completely stolen the show. Edge of Spider-Verse is a terrific miniseries for fans looking to delve deeper into characters who only appeared in the background of Spider-Verse events.

1 The Best Peter Parker & Miles Morales Team-Up

Spider-Men (June 2012) by Brian Michael Bendis, Sara Pichelli & Justin Ponsor

Several years before Dan Slott wrote Spider-Verse within his Amazing Spider-Man run, Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli teamed Peter Parker and Miles Morales up in the Spider-Men miniseries. Spider-Men was a precursor and prelude to the Spider-Verse comic event and helped establish Peter and Miles’s partnership before they partnered with a hundred other Spider-People.

Where Spider-Verse has spectacle, Spider-Men has heart. Peter Parker travels to the Ultimate Universe and meets a younger Aunt May and Gwen Stacy, who watched their Spider-Man die. Peter also gave Miles his blessing to continue being the Ultimate Spider-Man, marking an incredibly important moment in the young hero’s life.
