Summary

The Ant-Vengers are a newly-formed squad, but their name and their line-up has them already ascending to the top of the ranks of the best Avengers line-up Marvel has to offer.
The roster of the Ant-Vengers consists of a great blend of major names, including some unexpected pairings, who produce spectacular results in their first mission together.
The cancellation of Avengers Inc. makes it unlikely that readers will see the Ant-Vengers again soon, though their return could happen if writer Al Ewing has plans to revisit the
Avengers
in the future.

Warning: Spoilers for Avengers Inc #5!The newly-formed Ant-Vengers instantly rank among the best Avengers team Marvel has to offer. The original Avengers line-up debuted in 1963, and since then, Marvel has consistently found new ways to pump new life into Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Not only by occasionally shaking up the roster, but by creating spin-off teams such as the West Coast Avengers, and the Young Avengers – and now, the Ant-Vengers.

Avengers Inc. #5 – by Al Ewing, Leonard Kirk, Alex Sinclair, and VC’s Cory Petit – introduces this exciting new unit. When the return of both Hank Pym, and the far more nefarious Ultron, bubbles to the surface all at once, Janet van Dyne makes an emergency call to a few allies.

The team of Janet, Scott Lang, his daughter Cass Lang, Hank’s daughter Nadia Pym, Luke Cage, Valkyrie, Vision, Moon Knight, and Hank’s Ultron-esque “son” Mark 12assemble to form…the Ant-Vengers

The Ant-Vengers Bring Things Full Circle As Avengers Inc. Wraps Up Early

Readers who had been following each issue of Avengers Inc. up until this point will notice that all the allies who Janet calls upon in the final issue are friends who worked closely with her, aiding since the start of this series in her investigation of supervillains. This helps bring the series into more of a full circle moment to end things during the climactic battle at the end of Avengers Inc. #5. Beyond that, it reflects strongly on Janet’s behalf as a leader, one who can depend on such high-profile Marvel heroes to jump to her aide at a moment’s notice.

Speaking of high-profile heroes, this roster is a great blend of major names, including some that aren’t obvious to pair together. For instance, not a lot of people think of Luke Cage sharing a the battlefield with Valkyrie, but side-by-side in Avengers Inc. #5, they do a lot of damage together, making for a great team-up. The unpredictable combination of everyone involved produces spectacular results, allowing them to win the battle in the end. On top of being creative, this Avengers roster is efficient in their first mission together.

Readers Want To Know If They’ll See The Ant-Vengers Again

Because this marks the final issue of Avengers Inc. following the book’s cancelation, the likelihood that readers will see this team again looks dim, unfortunately. However, while the series’ cancelation does cut this concept short, keep in mind that Avengers Inc. itself was built on Al Ewing’s previous exploration of the characters – including last year’s Wasp–- dating as far back as 2015’s Ultron Forever. As long as Ewing has plans to revisit the Avengers again, the Ant-Vengers could very well make their glorious return.
