Warning! Contains Spoilers For Venom War #1!
Marvel has given readers a look at Venom’s most striking transformation ever, reiterating that he is the Marvel Universe’s greatest King in Black. Every symbiote originally came from Knull, the King in Black. Now that Knull is dead,Venom has taken over the role, leading to a very dark future. Venom is already one of Marvel’s strongest heroes, but if Eddie keeps the Venom symbiote, he’ll become a Galactus-level threat.
Venom War #1 – written by Al Ewing, with art by Iban Coello – features Dylan Brock meeting with the Eventuality, who offers to answer five questions, including what would happen if Eddie Brock became Venom again. The shocking response is what kicks off the Venom War event, as Dylan decides he simply can not allow his father to regain Venom.
The issue’s glimpse of a dark future shows Eddie Brock, as the King in Black, going on a rampage against the denizens of the ninth universe, killing everyone he comes across while proclaiming himself to be “the anti-all.”

Galactus was one of the surviving members of the previous universe, who moved over into the next cycle of the Marvel Universe. Dylan’s vision of the future shows that Eddie Brock will share a similar fate.
The King in Black is the avatar of darkness in the Marvel Universe and often seeks to end all light, returning the universe to darkness. Knull was very nearly successful in his mission when he invaded Earth with his symbiote army. Despite powerful characters like the Avengers and Sentry teaming up to try and defeat Knull, they were ultimately overrun and it seemed that the King in Black had won. It was only due to the power of the Enigma Force bonding with Venom that Knull was defeated, and Eddie took on the mantle of the King in Black, but that choice may have just doomed an entire universe.
The Marvel Universe works in cycles; every time one universe ends, another begins. Galactus was one of the surviving members of the previous universe, who moved over into the next cycle of the Marvel Universe. Dylan’s vision of the future shows that Eddie Brock will share a similar fate, moving from the current universe over into the ninth iteration, which he will then proceed to massacre as he seeks death. Either the denizens of this universe will kill him, finally freeing him of the dark crown, or he’ll return the universe to darkness.
Dylan knows that if Eddie ever becomes Venom again, he’ll be the most brutal King in Black the Marvel Multiverse has ever seen.
The Terrifying Threat Of Eddie Brock As The King In Black Kicks Off Marvel’s “Venom War”
Father Vs. Son For The Fate Of The Multiverse
Knull was only stopped due to the combined forces of Earth’s heroes and the Enigma Force joining with Eddie Brock, but there’s no guarantee that the next iteration of the universe will have such capable heroes. In a universe without the Avengers or the Guardians of the Galaxy, the King in Black would be able to run rampant and slaughter everyone. While there’s no doubt that Eddie Brock has pure intentions in his heart, Dylan knows that if Eddie ever becomes Venom again, he’ll be the most brutal King in Black the Marvel Multiverse has ever seen.
