One of the most popular, pivotal, and powerful Marvel superheroes and an integral part of virtually every one of its universe, The Hulk has fathered many sons, daughters, and even symbolic children through comic history. Some of his children fight alongside him in benevolence and goodwill, while others are exceedingly strong, antagonistic forces that could destroy universes if left unchecked.

The Hulk is well known for his internal struggles, something many of his children share. In the comics, some of the Hulk’s kids are given very little attention, with a select few only making one single appearance in canon. But with every Hulk child capable of giving their green-tinted father a run for his money, we’re looking through timelines, universes, and possible futures to call out the most powerful children of the Hulk in Marvel history.

10 Bruce Willis Sylvester Chan, Hulk’s Future Son

Abominations #3 (Ivan Velez Jr, Angel Medina, Brad Vancata, Glynis Oliver)

Introduced in Abominations #3 for his first and only comic book appearance, Bruce may be the son of either a time-displaced Hulk from the main Marvel Universe, or his future Maestro form (one possible outcome that will arise many times in this list). What is known for sure is that Betty-6 is the baby’s mother. Betty-6, while pregnant, was on the run from Abomination, so she traveled back in time to find protection in New York City’s tunnels.

The three-issue arc was an expansion of the Future Imperfect storyline, meaning Hulk may not have been a willing participant in the creation of this son. But for the baby, the story has a positive ending, since Betty survives to deliver the baby boy (named for multiple action movie heroes at the time). However, the story ends with Bruce Chan as a baby, so readers never got the chance to see his full potential, placing him among the weakest of Hulk’s children.

9 Thaddeus & Rick, Maestro’s Future Sons

Maestro #1 (Peter David, German Peralta, Jesus Aburtov, Dale Keown, Jason Keith)

Introduced in Maestro #1, Thaddeus and Rick are Bruce and Betty Banner’s sons in the Earth-9200 timeline. For those unfamiliar with either this alternate Marvel reality or ‘Maestro,’ the explanation is simple. In the version of history where nuclear war broke out in the early 21st Century, Hulk survived, and eventually grew into a brutal tyrant called Maestro, ruling over one of Earth’s last cities with an iron fist.

The issue opens with this happy ending for Hulk and Betty, raising two (seemingly twin) boys, one of whom is green like his father. Intended as minor characters in the Maestro storyline, Thaddeus and Rick only appeared in this scene as an illusion meant to influence Maestro. As a result, not much information can be gained on them, especially in regard to their power. This is because at the end of Maestro #1, the pair die along with their mother in the nuclear apocalypse, so we never get to see their full power.

8 The Hulk Gang, Bruce’s ‘Old Man Logan’ Kids & Grandkids (with She-Hulk)

Wolverine #66 (Mark Millar, Steve McNiven, Dexter Vines, Morry Hollowell)

Part of the Earth-807128 reality that introduced the now iconic Old Man Logan future to Marvel fans, this band of raiders are the result of Marvel’s villains finally beating the heroes, turning America into a wasteland. With the strongest left to claim what they could, Hulk declared himself the ruler of ‘Hulkland’ (formerly California), and set about fathering children with She-Hulk, his first cousin. The product became The Hulk Gang (talk about a dysfunctional family).

It’s never explicitly explained why Bruce Banner would be so corrupted in this future, but there’s no arguing that Hulk’s genetics provide an unforgettable take on the ‘post-apocalyptic raider’ archetype. Many of these children (and grandchildren) possess some portion of Banner gamma power, but nothing on Bruce’s level. After killing Logan’s family for no reason other than boredom, Old Man Logan massacres the Hulk Gang (Bruce included). The Hulk Gang may be physically strong, but their dim-wittedness and plain dementedness prevent them from ever being among the most powerful of the Hulk’s children.

Wolverine: Old Man Logan Giant-Size #1 (Mark Millar, Steve McNiven)

While the names of most of the Hulk Gang members are known, they function almost entirely as a unit. But if one must be highlighted, it is Billy-Bob Banner, and for the best reasons possible. After Logan makes his bloody massacre of the Hulk Gang, and is eaten by Pappy Hulk, the fallout is revealed when Billy-Bob returns home to the family’s cave. The one grandson of Hulk who was absent from the bloodbath.

Why? Because he had to pick up some Jim Belushi movies from a friend. The real show was about to start, as Billy-Bob witnessed a healed and reconstituted Logan burst forth from Pappy Hulk’s stomach (and take the youngest member of the family, Bruce, Jr., with him when he left). Billy-Bob lives, since he obviously has his priorities in the right place. Which, by default, means he possesed more staying power than any of his siblings.

6 Scorpion, Hulk’s Daughter

Amazing Fantasy #7 (Fred Van Lente, Leonard Kirk)

While not technically as ‘confirmed’ as the other entries on this list, it is stated in-universe that Carmilla Black AKA Scorpion is Bruce Banner’s daughter with Monica Rappaccini, who was later adopted. While her strengths or abilities aren’t a direct match for Hulk’s, her immunity to toxins does support a connection to Banner, who was somehow able to absorb lethal levels of gamma energy without dying.

Debuting in Amazing Fantasy (Vol. 2) #7, Carmilla Black gained her namesake when her arm mutated into a poisonous stinger as a teenager. Genetically engineered by A.I.M, she has a multitude of powers that make her an unparalleled asset. Just some of her abilities include immunity, toxic absorption, and power neutralizing. Being an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D at times has also gifted Carmilla with the skill of espionage.

Old Man Logan (Vol 2) #25 (Ed Brisson, Mike Deodato Jr.)

Originally a member of the Hulk Gang, Cambria struck out on her own. Eventually, she ended up raising the young Hulks of the family after some were unexpectedly transported to Marvel’s main 616 Universe. She seems to be a full-on Hulk, unlike some of the other gang members. Therefore, posing more of a threat than her siblings.

An example of her fortitude is when she worked with Logan and Hawkeye to defeat Maestro, an incredibly intimidating villain. Moreover, she’s many steps ahead of her troublesome siblings in her propensity for teamwork alone, qualities sorely lacking in other members of the Hulk Gang.

4 Lyra, Hulk’s Daughter (and The Future She-Hulk)

Hulk: Raging Thunder #1 (Jeff Parker, Mitch Breitweiser)

The daughter of Hulk from an alternate future, Lyra is also known as the Savage She-Hulk, iand represents an entirely new take on the Hulk character. As Lyra gets angrier, she becomes weaker, in a strange paradox to the traditional Hulk as audiences know it.

Intended to be a powerful warrior, Lyra has the power and lineage of Hulk and Thundra, culminating in an incredibly potent strength that she uses in conjunction with martial arts training. Through meditation, Lyra has learned the ultimate Hulk gamma power, how to calm herself even in the most frustrating times, which can make her grow stronger. As a result, Lyra is not only physically imposing but also very self-possessing.

3 Bruce Jr., The Hulk’s ‘Old Man Logan’ Son

Wolverine #66 (Mark Millar, Steve McNiven, Dexter Vines, Morry Hollowell)

Hulk’s forgotten son Bruce Jr. was a baby of the Hulk Gang spared by Wolverine in the Old Man Logan series. He grew up as his reality’s only Hulk and became a member of The Avengers of the Wasteland. Also, he defeated the Devourer of Worlds, Galactus, in an amazing show of strength.

On top of the impressive abilities that he inherited from the Gamma radiation physiology of his father, Pappy Banner in the Earth-807128 reality, Bruce Banner Jr. is also a genius. Coincidentally, his intellect actually increases when he is not in Hulk form.

2 Skaar, The Hulk’s ‘Planet Hulk’ Son

World War Hulk #5 (Greg Pak, John Romita Jr.)

Sometimes considered Marvel’s loneliest hero, Skaar is the offspring of the Hulk and Caiera the Oldstrong on Planet Sakaar. Both parents have bestowed their own gifts and powers onto their son, culminating in an extremely powerful creature. Possessing the superhuman strength and stamina of his father and the Old Power from his mother, Skaar is able to connect to and manipulate a planet.

Skaar surprisingly survived the destruction of Sakaar and ended up on Earth, where he struggled to forge a relationship with his estranged father. Skaar was also briefly a member of Norman Osborn’s Dark Avengers, but his heroic nature quickly prevailed.

1 Hiro-Kala, Hulk’s Other, More Powerful ‘Planet Hulk’ Son

Skaar: Son of Hulk #2 (Greg Pak, Ron Garney)

Hiro-Kala is easily the Hulk’s strongest child. He not only defeated the formidable and villainous Galactus, who had destroyed his homeworld, but also enslaved him and turned him into his own weapon. Introduced in Skaar: Son of Hulk #2, Hiro-Kala is Skaar’s brother. Consequently, Hiro-Kala was able to gain access to the Old Power and found a way to combine it with the Power Cosmic, creating the New Power.

In an intriguing twist, he has the ability to change into a Hulk form, however, it is only through love, not rage. While it has not been seen yet, the transformation is said to be so powerful that it would threaten the universe. Due to his mastery of multiple cosmic forces, Hiro-Kala is the most powerful of the children of Hulk at the moment, but more offsprings of Bruce Banner could come out in the future to take this title.
