Marvel Studios has some great ideas in store for the iconic hero.
Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand with new projects like Nova, setting high standards for quality content.

The upcoming live-action adaptation of Nova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe finally gets a new update from one of Marvel Studios’ executives. The Multiverse Saga has been focusing on fleshing out established heroes and villains as well as introducing new faces from the world of Marvel Comics. As Marvel Studios is almost halfway through Phase 5, the MCU will see more new blood throughout upcoming films and TV shows.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, while breaking down the X-Men ’97 season 1 finale, Marvel Studios Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, was asked about the long-awaited Nova live-action project that has been in work for quite some time. As rumors recently surfaced that Nova is getting his own Disney+ show, with casting supposedly focusing on a younger iteration of the character, Winderbaum was asked to set the record straight on what is going on with the iconic hero’s live-action debut:

It’s new territory for us, developing more shows than we produce. Nova certainly is exciting to us, we’ve got some great ideas simmering. I think there’s a lot of potential there. I love Nova, also, from the comics, especially the Richard Rider era… we’ll see what happens. Like you said, there’s only so many release slots in the schedule, but we want to make sure everything we make is as good as it could possibly be. But I will say that is a particular project we are excited about and excited about developing.

Marvel Studios Needs To Feel Fully Committed To Develop Nova.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that by not rushing, they could also have a bigger success with the casting, especially if they tap a big name who may be available for Marvel Studios by the time they get working on

While time will tell who the MCU casts as Nova, Marvel Studios is right in not rushing the live-action project for Richard Rider. One of the big ripple effects seen throughout The Multiverse Saga is the initial goal of Disney to focus more on quantity over quality, hence the extremely mixed response to Phase 4. However, ever since Bob Iger returned as CEO of Walt Disney Studios, that is now being massively rectified.

Marvel is currently developing a project for Nova. As they decide where it fits in the MCU, they are likely also planning out some Marvel cameos.

With a big hero like Nova and his comic origin story, it is more worth seeing his show come to fruition once Marvel Studios is fully committed to its vision. As there are a lot of MCU movies and TV shows that are still being worked on, with some of them not having even started filming, Nova may take longer to come out. It’s also worth keeping in mind that by not rushing, they could also have a bigger success with the casting, especially if they tap a big name who may be available for Marvel Studios by the time they get working on Nova.

Hopefully, updates on Nova’s MCU show will come perhaps later in the year, especially if Marvel Studios starts to lay out more plans for Phase 6, as only a handful of films and series have been announced at this point. As Richard has some really compelling stories in his Marvel mythology, there are a lot of fun directions for Marvel Studios to take him in Nova. But for now, the world will have to wait patiently for Nova as the MCU gets closer to finally bringing Richard into the fold.
