Hulk will engage in an epic battle against a terrifying new foe, Patchwork Jack, in Marvel’s new issue of Giant-Size Hulk, which will arrive in April 2024.

Per Marvel, Giant-Size Hulk #1, written by Philip Kennedy Johnson and featuring art by Andrea Broccardo, will see Bruce Banner embarking on a soul-crushing journey against supernatural forces. The publisher teases that the threat Hulk faces is big enough to fit into a giant-size issue only. Giant-Size Hulk will feature a nonstop fight between the Jade Giant and Patchwork Jack, which will take place on an explosive train ride. Marvel’s description of the issue reads, “Riding the rails is no walk in the park, especially for the Incredible Hulk! And particularly when something, no, someone has been stolen from him by a gruesome new threat with evil machinations in mind. Clear the tracks, the Hulk is coming through!”

Giant-Size Hulk is part of Marvel’s 50th anniversary celebration to honor the epic Giant-Size comics storytelling of the 1970s. Giant-Size Hulk #1’s debut follows the first issue launches of January’s Giant-Size Spider-Man, February’s Giant-Size Fantastic Four, and March’s Giant-Size Spider-Gwen. Marvel asserts that the upcoming Giant-Size issues will feature pivotal status quo shifts, exciting first appearances, and dramatic developments.

Johnson, who currently pens Incredible Hulk to much acclaim, discussed the upcoming Giant-Size Hulk #1 and his approach to the project. “The North Star I’ve been following on Incredible Hulk is to make every issue a horror and action showcase for the rockstar artists I’ve been so fortunate to work with,” the writer explained. Johnson continued, “I’ve pulled out all the stops to ensure readers don’t miss out on a single page of this book’s potential: new lore, new monsters, fan-favorite guest appearances from across the Marvel U, the most jaw-dropping fights imaginable, the gnarliest transformations Hulk has ever experienced… I want this to be a run that readers never forget. And when my editors asked for a Giant-Size Incredible Hulk one-shot, I knew we had to ramp all that up even more.”

It also features the first-ever appearance of a horrifying new character: Patchwork Jack, who I can’t wait for readers to meet.
