Highlights
One of the busiest years in gaming history is about to get a whole lot busier, with October 2023 being absolutely packed with highly anticipated releases. Of course, while games like Alan Wake 2 and Assassin’s Creed Mirage have a great deal of hype surrounding them, they both pale in comparison to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which in the wake of Starfield has become the most anticipated game of the year.
Though it feels a little surreal, fans are just one month away from getting their hands on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and by all accounts, it seems as though it might actually live up to the hype. At the end of last week, Insomniac invited a ton of content creators and press to come check out Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for the first time, and the overwhelming consensus coming out of the preview event is that Spider-Man 2 is doing exactly what it’s advertising and improving upon its predecessor in just about every way. One such way is the amount of customization that players will be able to do in the sequel, with over 65 suits available in the base game, a ton of which were just teased in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2‘s recent State of Play trailer.

A good portion of the recent Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 State of Play trailer was dedicated entirely to showcasing the new Deluxe Edition suits that’ll be coming to the sequel. Purchasing the Deluxe Edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will give players immediate access to ten new Spidey suits, five for each hero. For Peter Parker, these suits include the Stone Monkey suit, the Aurantia suit, the Tactical suit, the 25th Century suit, and the Apunkalyptic suit. For Miles Morales, these suits include the Red Spectre suit, the Biomechanical suit, the Agimat suit, the Encoded suit, and the Power Rangers-inspired Tokusatsu suit. Pre-ordering Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will also give players immediate access to Peter Parker’s Arachknight suit, and Miles Morales’ Shadow-Spider suit.
But the suit reveals didn’t stop there. During the recent State of Play Spider-Man 2 trailer, fans got their best look yet at both Peter and Miles’ starting suits. Insomniac is bringing back its incredibly unique Advanced suit design for Peter, albeit with a few changes such as a deeper red color on the mask and torso, and a brighter white for the spider logo and armored accents. Miles’ classic red and black suit is largely unchanged from its appearance in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, though it has been given a slightly leaner look.
Much like Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature a ton of costumes based on classic comic book, movie, and TV show designs, and a few of them made very brief appearances in the game’s latest trailer. Miles’ Purple Reign suit – based on the Prowler’s color scheme – was briefly shown in Spider-Man 2‘s recent trailer, returning from the previous game. Some brand-new suits were also teased, such as Miles’ Puerto Rican suit, Miles’ 10-year anniversary suit, Peter’s Falcon-Spider suit, a Superior Spider-Man suit, and a suit based on Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 Symbiote costume.
In this trailer, Insomniac also teased that the vast majority of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2‘s suits will also feature multiple color variations, essentially taking the game’s total suit count from 65 to potentially over 200. In the trailer, fans were given brief looks at the alternate color variations for Miles’ Purple Reign suit, a new Family Business suit, and Peter’s classic suit, which can be given a red and black recolor, referencing the hero’s first comic appearance in Amazing Fantasy.
