Blade was released in cinemas 25 years ago, yet the movie is still considered one of the coolest Marvel films of all time.

In 1998, Wesley Snipes donned his Blade outfit; ever since that day, cinema hasn’t even come close to replicating the energy his character exudes. The Day Walker has been iconic since his comic debut in 1973, but it’s fair to say that the 90s and 00s films are what fans think about when they picture Blade.

A legend was born that day! Check out the Blade trailer.

Rammed full of action, blood, and sexy vampires, the 1998 film delivered on all fronts – few anticipated the original could be topped, but then Blade II arrived on the scene in 2002 to prove the doubters wrong. Described as a “visual feast”, the second movie surpassed expectations, meaning that when Blade: Trinity came out, nobody was prepared for it to be as bad as it was. Call me misguided, but I actually quite like the third instalment; it wasn’t as good as the previous films, but it has a certain charm I can’t say no to.

Twitter went off when Discussing Film reminded everyone that it’s Blade’s 25th anniversary, with user DB tweeting that “Blade really put Marvel back on the map”, to which one user simply said “Big fact!!!” You won’t find many people who dislike those first two Marvel films, because, as far as most fans are concerned, Blade is the true beginning of the MCU. Debate it all you like, without Snipes taking on Blade and delivering such an iconic performance, Marvel would have struggled on the big screen.

Although the praise keeps on coming for Snipes’ Blade, fans are excited to see what the new film will bring to the table. When it was announced that a new cast member had joined, fans went into overdrive, with that energy barely cooling down to a simmer months later. “Crazy how time flies!” said PAB Games. “I’m looking forward to the new Blade movie with Mahershala Ali. I wonder when it’ll be released since it’s been delayed?” To that question, we have answers: according to The Digital Fix, the new Blade film will be released on 14 February 2025. Valentine’s Day is an interesting choice, though it’s one that only piques our curiosity more.

The upcoming Blade film could be delayed again, we can’t say. However, what will never let us down or get blocked by delays is the ass kicking might, effortless style, and ridiculously cool vibes that Blade still harnesses to this day.
