Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Spirits of Vengeance #5! Ghost Rider is one of the most powerful earthbound heroes in the Marvel Universe, with the potential to reach levels of power anything most other Marvel characters would be able to fathom. While their access to hellfire and their inherent near-invulnerability are key reasons as to why this is the case, another big part of any given Ghost Rider’s deadliness-factor is their selection of weaponry. And the latest weapon wielded by the most powerful Ghost Rider certainly doesn’t disappoint.
In Spirits of Vengeance #5 by Sabir Pirzada, Sean Damien Hill, Brian Level, and Paul Davidson, Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch are battling a villain-group called Death Row, who have captured Michael Badillino in the hopes that they’ll draw out his ‘Ghost Rider’-like spirit, Vengeance. Death Row wants to capture Vengeance and wield this Ghost Rider-like entity’s power themselves. While this is the main plot of the comic, the really noteworthy moment happens at the end, far away from the conflict between the Ghost Riders and Death Row.
Readers are taken to the God Quarry, where Fantasma meets none other than Robbie Reyes. Reyes is surrounded by the inhabitants of the God Quarry – all of them hellish beasts born from the countless remains of dead gods that lie in the First Firmament – and he needs Fantasma’s help defeating them, telling her when she arrives, “there’s work to do here”. While it’s unclear exactly what their mission is in the God Quarry, what is clear is that Robbie has a hardcore new weapon to use against these god-tier foes: chains with rock pick hammers attached to them.
Robbie Reyes Gives an Awesome Upgrade to a Classic Ghost Rider Weapon
Hellfire Chains are Used by Practically Every Ghost Rider, & Reyes Made Them More Hardcore
Hellfire Chains have been the primary weapons of practically every Ghost Rider since Johnny Blaze first became the Spirit of Vengeance, which is something that is prominently featured during any given Ghost Rider story – no matter the medium. Sure, the comics usually depict Ghost Rider wielding Hellfire Chains, but the same is also true for both feature films and Ghost Rider’s live-action appearance in the television show, Agents of SHIELD.
That’s why Robbie Reyes’ new take on the classic weapon is so badass, as it stays true to the classic aesthetic of Ghost Rider while making it way cooler than it already was. Now, Ghost Rider’s chains can be used as more brutal offensive weapons akin to the Blades of Chaos wielded by Kratos in the God of War video game franchise. Honestly, this new upgrade speaks for itself, as all fans have to do is look at them to understand how awesome they are – and how cool they will be to see in action.
Robbie Reyes’ New Weapon Isn’t Even Close to His Max Strength
Robbie Reyes is the All-Rider, & Really Doesn’t Require Any Weapon At All
While Robbie Reyes’ new ‘hammer-chains’ are undeniably badass, they don’t necessarily make him any more powerful than he already was – and, truth be told, there isn’t a weapon in the Marvel Universe that could. Robbie Reyes isn’t just a Ghost Rider, but an entity known as the All-Rider. The All-Rider can imbue anything he touches with Hellfire, and by doing so, gains complete control over them. There’s no limit to who or what the All-Rider can control, making him arguably the most powerful being across the multiverse.

Marvel is fleshing out the origin story of its all-new Ghost Rider ahead of his inclusion on the new Thunderbolts team, & it couldn’t be more brutal.
Robbie Reyes’ standing as the All-Rider makes him the most powerful Ghost Rider in Marvel Comics. However, when it comes to his new weapons, power isn’t really a part of the discussion. The really noteworthy aspect of these hammer-chains is the simple fact that they are insanely hardcore, and an awesome upgrade to a classic Ghost Rider weapon.
