Marvel may not have a dynamic duo as iconic and beloved as Batman and Robin, but they do have plenty of heroes with partners or successors. Team-up abilities are a huge part of Marvel Rivals and can change the dynamic of a match in an instant. Almost every hero has a prodigy or some kind of ally these days, which means there are so many combinations developers can pick from for team-up abilities.

The tradition of team-ups and passing the superhero mantle to the next generation is a well-worn cliché in comics. However, recent successors like Miles Morales show that when stories and characters resonate with fans, they can create beloved and successful heroes. Marvel Rivals is a great platform to highlight and expand on these characters and their relationships.

She May Be Small, but the Wasp Is Marvel’s Most Prominent Sidekick

First Appeared in Tales to Astonish #44

The Wasp has been a staple of Marvel for decades and has gone through plenty of costumes, reworks, and other changes. Janet Van Dyne—Hope Van Dyne in the MCU—takes on the mantle of the Wasp. A founding member of the Avengers, she even came up with the team’s name. Known for her intelligence and cunning, she has often stepped into a leadership role, rivaling even Captain America. As such a significant figure in Marvel history, it’s only a matter of time before the Wasp becomes a playable hero in Marvel Rivals.

While the Wasp has powers similar to those of Ant-Man, there are key differences that would make her a compelling addition to Marvel Rivals. She can shrink to a molecular level, grow to towering heights, and sprout wings to fly at speeds nearing forty miles per hour when in her small form. Additionally, she can telepathically communicate with insects. Her unique versatility offers developers plenty of opportunities to design an exciting and dynamic kit that players will have a blast with.

From Colossus to Nightcrawler, these X-Men belong in Marvel Rivals.

Like the original Hawkeye, Kate Bishop doesn’t have superpowers, but that wouldn’t stop her from being a formidable force in Marvel Rivals. While Hawkeye can be tricky to master, his ability to deal massive damage and disrupt enemy strategies with precise headshots makes him a powerhouse, and Kate could easily follow suit. She is an excellent marksman who also knows her way around a sword and isn’t afraid to fight with her own hands. Kate Bishop may not be a top priority for the Marvel Rivals, but after the success of the Hawkeye TV series, plenty of fans would be thrilled to see her included in the future.

Shuri Is the Latest in a Long Line of Black Panthers

She eventually takes up the mantle herself, stepping in to lead and defend Wakanda when her brother is unable to. During her journey, Shuri is slain and her spirit transcends to Djalia, the Wakandan spiritual plane, where she trains with her mother’s spirit and gains mystic powers. She is later revived by T’Challa.

A brilliant scientist and engineer, Shuri possesses enhanced physical abilities from consuming the heart-shaped herb, which would make her a tough opponent in Marvel Rivals. Her visit to Djalia grants her additional powers, including the ability to shapeshift into a flock of birds or a single large one and to reanimate deceased Wakandan warriors. Combined with the strength and advanced technology of the Black Panther suit, Shuri would be a versatile and powerful addition to the game. While Black Panther’s playstyle might not appeal to everyone, developers could shake things up if they include Shuri. Since she’s already taken up the mantle of Black Panther in the MCU, Shuri could be a great addition to Marvel Rivals.

She eventually inherits Tony Stark’s old lab and works alongside S.H.I.E.L.D. and a group of young heroes known as the Guardians.

Ironheart might have a huge role in the MCU going forward, so there’s a good chance she’ll eventually be added to the Marvel Rivals roster. With a genius-level intellect that rivals Tony Stark, Riri Williams might just be able to take his Iron Man technology to the next level of innovation. Her suits share similarities with Iron Man’s, with her most recent design incorporating advanced nanotechnology. She also uses a Tony Stark-based A.I. interface for her suits that gives her guidance and advice, like Spider-Man does in the MCU. Characters Who Would Be Nearly Impossible to Add to Marvel Rivals

Marvel has many iconic characters, but some would be a chore to implement in Marvel Rivals.

With mystical powers that rival the Sorcerer Supreme and a lifetime of martial arts training under his belt, Wong has the potential to be overpowered if he’s added to Marvel Rivals. Quick martial artists, like Iron Fist, are able to quickly get in and do their damage, and a mystic like Doctor Strange has some pretty solid offensive and defensive capabilities. If Wong were given a playstyle or moveset that gave him the best of both worlds, then he would be a terrifying hero to come across on the battlefield.

Robbie Reyes Probably Wouldn’t Get to Use His Car in Marvel Rivals

First Appeared in All New Ghost Rider #1

Robbie Reyes is the newest Ghost Rider who isn’t possessed by a spirit of vengeance. After being murdered during a street race, Robbie comes back as the Ghost Rider by bonding with the spirit attached to the car. It’s eventually revealed that the spirit is Robbie’s uncle, a notorious serial killer who was gunned down by police. With no other real option, Robbie agrees to satiate his uncle’s bloodlust, but only by killing people with evil souls.

Unlike previous Ghost Riders, Robbie drives around in a Dodge Charger that can act as a portal to Hell and has a wide array of other abilities. When Robbie transforms, he has superhuman abilities as well as a healing factor. He is able to conjure and control hellfire, and he fights with terrifyingly strong chains that he creates at will. The Penance Stare allows Robbie to look into the eyes of his victims and make them feel all the pain they’ve ever caused. If a comic-accurate Robbie Reyes made his way into Marvel Rivals, there would be no stopping him.

3

Yelena Is a Dangerous Assassin and Could Be a Versatile Duelist

First Appeared in Inhumans Vol 2 #5

Yelena Belova was trained at the Red Room Academy, a Cold War-era facility dedicated to producing the world’s most lethal female spies. She idolized Natasha Romanova and saw her as both a rival and a benchmark to surpass. In one mission, Natasha had her face surgically swapped with Yelena’s to teach her the sacrifices required of a true spy. Yelena was even enhanced to temporarily mimic her enemies’ powers and tasked with taking down the Avengers. Eventually, she reconciles with Natasha and adopts the mantle of White Widow.

With skills that arguably surpass Natasha’s, Yelena is a Russian superspy who would pose a significant threat in Marvel Rivals. She is a brilliant tactician, an expert in various forms of combat, and an Olympic-level gymnast. During Yelena’s brief stint as a super-adaptoid she was even able to copy her foes’ abilities. If she were added to the game, her moveset would need to feel distinct from Black Widow’s, but her mastery of espionage and combat would make her a thrilling and dangerous addition to the roster.

2

First Appeared in Nyx #3

Initially, Laura Kinney was thought to be a clone of Wolverine, but she turned out to be his daughter. Sarah Kinney was a geneticist tasked with creating a new Wolverine clone. Against her superiors’ orders, she became the surrogate mother for X-23. Laura spent her early years experimented on by the Facility until she eventually broke free and sought out her father, hoping to rid the world of the Facility’s experiments. X-23 wound up siding with her father, attending the School for Gifted Youngsters, and joining X-Force.

Like her father, X-23 is an incredibly powerful mutant, and fans would love to see her join Wolverine in the game. She wields bone claws coated in adamantium, which extend from both her hands and feet. Her exceptional healing factor makes her nearly immortal, and she can enter a berserker-like rage when triggered by a specific scent. Thanks to the movie Logan, X-23 is one of the Marvel Universe’s most iconic successors, and she deserves a spot in Marvel Rivals sooner rather than later.
