After months of speculation and rumors about a potential film or series, reports now indicate that Disney and Marvel have been quietly developing a new Disney+ TV show centered on a roster of Young Avengers.

A new report from Production Bulletin states that Disney+ and Marvel Television are planning to begin production on a Young Avengers TV series in January 2026. The report also lists the project under the seemingly secret title Champions (aka Young Avengers), with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and Co-President Louis D’Esposito named as producers. This report may come as a major surprise to Marvel fans worldwide, as Disney has yet to make any official announcement about the project. However, there have been recent rumors about a Young Avengers project in the works with the name Champions, coinciding with the report.

Squid Game is child’s play to this MCU character.

The report also included a description of the Young Avengers series. The description reads: “A mysterious group of young heroes has emerged in the wake of great tragedy. Who are these teenage do-gooders, and what right do they have to call themselves the Young Avengers?” However, this may just be a placeholder rather than the official synopsis for Champions, as that’s the description of Marvel’s Young Avengers #1, released in 2005.

Who Could Be Joining the Roster of Young Avengers?

Disney has produced many recent MCU television shows in recent years, and those include several projects centered on young Marvel heroes. Among those, The Ms. Marvel TV show from Disney+ follows Kamala Khan, a teenage superhero fan who gains cosmic powers and discovers her identity as she balances family, friendships, and her newfound responsibilities. The Ironheart TV series, set to be released in 2025, follows Riri Williams, a young genius inventor who develops advanced armor technology, stepping into Iron Man’s legacy while confronting new challenges and formidable enemies. Other characters who could potentially join the roster of a Young Avengers series include Wiccan, introduced in Agatha: All Along; America Chavez, featured in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness; and Cassie Lang, who has already appeared in the Ant-Man films.

The Original Young Avengers Comic Series

The Young Avengers comic series, first introduced in 2005 by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung, could provide the perfect blueprint for a potential TV adaptation. The story follows a group of teenage heroes who rise to the occasion after the Avengers disband, forming a new team to protect the world. The original lineup includes Iron Lad, a time-traveling prodigy tied to the villainous Kang the Conqueror; Kate Bishop, a sharp-shooting archer who takes up the mantle of Hawkeye; Patriot, the grandson of a super-soldier; Hulkling, a shapeshifting alien prince; and Wiccan, a powerful sorcerer with ties to the Scarlet Witch. The comics blend action, coming-of-age drama, and heartfelt character arcs, tackling themes of legacy, teamwork, and identity. With its compelling roster of young heroes and rich storytelling potential, Young Avengers could easily become a hit series, especially as the MCU continues introducing these characters to audiences.
