Readers have caught a glimpse of what is in store for the X-Men, and it seems as though things will soon get dire for Rogue’s team in particular, as she is gifted visions, including a gender-swapped Cyclops, a six-armed Nightcrawler, a dead Colossus, and what appears to be Charles Xavier wearing Magneto’s helmet, and the dead bodies of new mutants the Outliers.
Uncanny X-Men #5 – written by Gail Simone, with art by David Marquez – makes it clear that these visions might not all necessarily come to pass, but nevertheless, these new versions of some iconic characters, and potential dark fates for others, has supercharged speculation among the X-franchise’s fandom.
The issue finds Rogue on the brink of death, following her battle with the Hag; Rogue subsequently enters a mindscape and encounters Harvey X, who passed away in the series’ first issue. Harvey gives Rogue a series of visions, including new X-Men characters, designs, and deaths to come.

Rogue’s powers famously allow her to absorb the life force and powers of anyone she touches. In Uncanny X-Men #1, Rogue visited a young mutant named Harvey on his deathbed. Before he died, Harvey touched Rogue’s hand, making her absorb his powers. He saw into the future and knew she would need to do the same to defeat Hag and stop her army. Harvey also sent the Outliers to the door where he knew Rogue would go next, so she could help them. With these dire visions, Harvey also foresaw things that could mean huge changes for the X-Men.
Rogue Reveals the Official Codename for Her New X-Men Team
As Rogue and Cyclops each command their own X-Men rosters, the power-stealing mutant hero makes a crucial decision about her team’s name.
Harvey X’s visions include a female version of Cyclops. If these prophecies of the future are to be trusted, this could be a new version of the character introduced in an upcoming X-Men arc. Another redesigned character in the vision is Nightcrawler, depicted with six arms, which could mean a secondary mutation is in store for Kurt Wagner. Harvey’s vision also showed the Outliers dead, but from his explanation, he was able to manipulate the future and save them, meaning this vision is not set in stone, though the next two are even more likely to occur.
Two X-Men Are In Big Trouble As The Raid On Graymalkin Prison Approaches
The Epic X-Crossover Will Have Consequences
In Harvey’s vision, Colossus is shown lying in a puddle of blood, surrounded by bloodhounds, a dog-like Sentinel model that hunts mutants, used by Graymalkin Prison. With the Raid on Graymalkin crossover teased at the end of this issue, Colossus could meet an untimely end at the chainsaw teeth of the bloodhounds, while helping liberate the X-Men’s old home. An even more interesting detail is someone besides Magneto putting on Magneto’s helmet. In the main X-Men series – written by Jed MacKey, with art by Ryan Stegman – Magneto is dying, implying a new character may take up the Master of Magnetism’s mantle.
All speculation aside, the Raid on Graymalkin Prison is guaranteed to have huge franchise-altering implications for the X-Men.
Readers know that Charles Xavier is being held captive inside Graymalkin Prison. During the raid, it’s likely Charles will be freed one way or another, either by his X-Men or his own hand. The character wearing Magneto’s helmet in Harvey’s vision has very similar features to Charles, especially his eyebrows, meaning the disgraced X-Men founder could be the one to put on the helmet. Also, his telekinetic powers allow him to perform similar feats to Magneto’s magnetism. In any case, all speculation aside, the Raid on Graymalkin Prison is guaranteed to have huge franchise-altering implications for the X-Men.
