A classic Spider-Man villain has a whole new operation for a whole new era of animated adventures.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1 finds the titular hero joining forces with his best friend, Nico Minoru, to investigate the explosion at Midtown High School that has left them without any hope for a real education. Though the pair don’t find much in the way of clues, they do find a band of armed goons who they only barely manage to escape from unscathed. As it turns out, these gun-toting villains were sent by none other than Silvio Manfredi, better known as Silvermane, who has big plans for the land Midtown High is built upon, and he won’t let any little insect stand in his way.

Miles Morales’ Favorite Clone Is Taking Over His Life

The most beloved Spider-Clone of an entire generation is giving Miles Morales a new lease on life, and it could be a serious problem.

First seen in the pages of 1969’s Amazing Spider-Man #73 by Stan Lee, John Romita Jr., and John Buscema, the villainous Silvio Manfredi was brought to the United States as a child from his home in Italy, eventually settling with his family in Manhattan. During his teenage years, Manfredi found a set of kindred spirits in the Maggia, who took the youngster in and put him to work rising through their ranks as a gangster. In the years that followed, Manfredi consistently proved himself as the cruel and cunning Silvermane, yet a stint in prison very nearly wiped out everything he had built. After being released, Manfredi went to war with the Kingpin in a bid to reclaim the territory he lost during his incarceration.

Despite never truly managing to claw his way back to his previous place in the ranks of New York City’s criminal underworld, Silvermane has maintained his reputation as a genuine threat. Even after nearly losing his life and being reduced to an emaciated state, Manfredi’s fury was enough to keep his gang in check. Silvermane even found a place for himself within the ranks of Hydra, albeit a short-lived one. When things took an even worse turn for Silvermane’s health, his head, brain, and other vital organs were transferred into a robotic body, cementing a whole new legacy for the longtime villain.
