After 85 Years, Marvel Gives Its First Ever Superhero the Greatest Redesign He’s Ever Had (& It’s Permanent)
As Marvel promotes its very first superhero to the A-list, he’s getting a radical new design that emphasizes exactly what makes him so unique.
Though the art features characters from every current Ultimate Marvel title, there are still a number of important characters not included in the lineup. Many of the new Ultimates roster, including Captain America, Hawkeye, Sif, She-Hulk, and more are missing from the series’ variant cover along with some of Peach Momoko’s Ultimate X-Men and all the new Ultimate Guardians of the Galaxy that are also set to make their first appearance soon. When Earth-6160 truly assembles its full world of heroes, it will be even more expansive than the already broad scope of the six-piece connecting variant covers.
Marvel’s New Wolverine Is The Final Piece Of The Ultimate Universe’s Puzzle
Ultimate Wolverine #1 – Available January 15, 2025 From Marvel Comics
The newest character to be featured in the far-reaching variant cover art is the Ultimate Wolverine, which Marvel officially unveiled at 2024’s New York Comic Con. This fresh version of Wolverine is somehow also the Winter Soldier in Earth-6160, and will be more wild and animalistic as he’s forced to wear a muzzle as part of his costume. As the new series starring the character, written by Chris Condon with art by Alessandro Cappuccio, introduces this unique take on the classic X-Men hero, his place in the Ultimate Universe and relation to the Maker’s Council will officially come into focus.
New X-Men Costumes Are Like Nothing Marvel Has Given Fans Before
An all-new X-Men team are getting their own costumes, and it’s like nothing Marvel fans have ever seen before, paving the way for a bold new future.
It also remains to be discovered how the new Wolverine, as well as the villainous Colossus and Magik, will fit into the new X-Men landscape being largely reforged by Peach Momoko’s haunting and beautiful Ultimate X-Men series. Since this version of the team re-imagines the mutant lineup without its most iconic leaders, the team consists of young mutants like Armor and Maystorm coming of age and tapping into their extraordinary abilities. Earth-6160’s mutants are severely shaken up, with the Children of the Atom being a sinister cult, and some of the main continuity’s X-Men on the Maker’s Council of villains.

Ultimate Marvel
Created in 2000, the Ultimate Marvel imprint redesigned the entire Marvel Comics universe with a new set of origin stories and relationships. The reboot reinterpreted Marvel continuity from scratch in an attempt to simplify and update the company’s 60-year history for modern audiences. With famous comic book writers such as Brian Michael Bendis, Warren Ellis, and Mark Millar at the helm, the Ultimate universe (named Earth-1610 within the Marvel multiverse) lasted 15 years and provided plenty of inspiration for the MCU.
