Warning: Spoilers for Storm #4!Stormhas already been known as a goddess and one of the X-Men’s most powerful Omega-level mutants, but her latest upgrade just made her an even bigger force to be reckoned with in Marvel Comics. In addition to a stunning new design, Ororo Munroe’s ultimate form has just been achieved along with an incredible display of power that officially solidifies her rightful place among the Marvel Universe’s strongest gods.

Storm #4 by Murewa Ayodele and Lucas Werneck sees the fallout of Ororo’s latest dinner date with Victor von Doom during her seven days without access to her mutant gifts. When Doom forces her to use her power too early, Storm is suddenly killed by the ancient spirit Eégún, but is quickly resurrected with extraordinary abilities.

After the Storm of Earth is killed off, Eternity brings Ororo back with the powers of a cosmic god. In her transformation into the Eternal Storm, Earth’s Mightiest Mutant roars back to life with a vengeance and a reinvigorated level of power.

Storm’s Shocking Death Becomes the Catalyst for Her Momentous Marvel Upgrade

Storm #4 by Murewa Ayodele, Lucas Werneck, Alex Guimarães, and Travis Lanham

The death of Storm was already teased in her glorious new ongoing series, but it comes with shocking consequences that could totally reshape Ororo’s place in Marvel lore. Doctor Voodoo had made a deal with an ancient spirit to save Storm from a mysterious radiation poisoning in a previous issue, but in a frightening scene, Storm gets impaled by the masked Eégún for breaking their deal. As her life is slowly extinguished after the brutal kill, Storm gets to have a touching moment with her father before Eternity helps her transform into her otherworldly new form as the Eternal Storm.

Eternity deemed Storm worthy of taking on its mighty power as an avatar of the all-powerful entity in the cosmos.

As the physical manifestation of the Marvel Universe itself gifts Ororo with this upgrade, Storm moves beyond Omega-level to an even more extreme degree of power. Back in Storm #1 – also by Ayodele and Werneck – it was revealed that Eternity deemed Storm worthy of taking on its mighty power as an avatar of the all-powerful entity in the cosmos. It’s still unclear how exactly this power upgrade could change her abilities, but her revenge on Eégún is truly electrifying. With her shocking death bringing on a monumental metamorphosis for the mutant, Storm #4 has become a pivotal moment in Ororo’s Marvel history.
