The wait for X-Men ’97 may be ending sooner than previously thought.
In development for years, X-Men ’97 serves as a continuation of X-Men: The Animated Series, picking up right where the original left off. Several of the same cast members have returned with the classic art style carrying over for the new show to make the revival seem as seamless as possible. The biggest issue that fans have faced has been the wait, and there were previously reports that the show wouldn’t be arriving until later in the spring, somewhere around April or May 2024. Per The Direct, it was more recently confirmed during The Walt Disney Corporation’s earnings presentation on Wednesday that the series is set to debut on Disney+ in “early 2024,” which could suggest the new show’s arrival is coming earlier than expected.
2000’s X-Men Killed A Dangerous Mutant Enemy – And No One Realized
The X-Men movies have included plenty of villains since they premiered. But the first film killed one of their most dangerous, and no one noticed.
While an official date still has yet to be announced, this tease would suggest that the release is imminent, and perhaps there will be an official announcement made in the near future. The animated series was officially announced in 2021, and while animation does take time to develop, fans have been eagerly waiting for the show to arrive. That’s based on the fond nostalgia Marvel fans have for the original X-Men animated series, which didn’t seem like it would ever be revisited in this way. There has ever since been great interest with fans in seeing the new series.
What’s better for fans would be all of the returning talents from the original. Confirmed voice cast members include Cal Dodd (Wolverine), Lenore Zann (Rogue), George Buza (Beast), Catherine Disher (Jean Grey), Chris Potter (Gambit), Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm), Adrian Hough (Nightcrawler), Christopher Britton (Mister Sinister), and Alyson Court (Jubilee). However, one key change is that many of them will be voicing different roles. Only Dodd, Zann, Buza, Sealy-Smith, and Britton will be playing the same characters. New voice cast members include Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Holly Chou as Jubille, A. J. LoCascio as Gambit, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, and Gui Agustini as Sunspot.
The X-Men’s Last Hope Are Marvel’s Most Psychedelic Super Team
Marvel’s Fall of X has sent one X-Men leader looking for help from one of the Multiverse’s most accomplished super teams.
“Happy to be back in the studio continuing to record Season 2 of X-Men 97 for [Marvel Studios] – this time in Burbank,” original Rogue voice actor Lenore Zann said in December, teasing how the series has already been renewed for Season 2. “Grateful to be back and I jes’ know y’all are gonna love our new show as much as I do.”
X-Men ’97 will debut on Disney+ in early 2024, according to Disney.
