Wolverine’s 400th Issue Teases An “Unbelievable Return From Logan’s Past”

This April, Marvel Comics’s Wolverine reaches a HUGE milestone: issue #8. Oh, and also it’s legacy numbered as Wolverine #400, celebrating several decades of the best there is at what he does. And the publisher is teasing an “unbelievable return from Logan’s past.” But let’s be honest, it’s probably Sabertooth.

Written by Saladin Ahmed with art by Martín Cóccolo, the issue contains two stories featuring “key appearances” and some surprising revelations from his past.

“A big anniversary issue is always a great excuse to go crazy with reveals and unveilings, and we’ve taken that to heart here!” Ahmed said via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “In this over-sized issue an old enemy drives Logan’s new pupil the Wendigo to the brink, Logan finally comes face to face with the cryptic entity known as  the Adamantine, and a stunning new family revelation plants the seeds for the next chaotic chapter of Logan’s life.”

If you haven’t been reading the series, there’s something that is taking over characters laced with adamantium called The Adamantine, and turning them golden, which actually seems pretty nice. But in Wolverine #8, the enemy will be revealed — and there will be a “surprise return from Logan’s past that no reader will see coming.” Is it Sabertooth? Or Mariko? Or any number of other characters we could probably predict? Who is to say?

Even more exciting, the issue will feature a bonus story written and drawn by Daniel Warren Johnson, who will also provide a cover for the issue. Check out the synopsis and several covers, below (not the one by Johnson, though). Wolverine #8 hits stores on April 16.
