Editor’s Note: This article contains discussion of suicide and mental health that could be triggering.Years after Netflix’s Daredevil was canceled, Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) have popped up in various Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) projects like Spider-Man: No Way Home, Hawkeye, and Echo. Now they’re set to lead Daredevil: Born Again, one of the most highly anticipated new shows of 2025. Fans were treated to an official trailer that offers a fresh look at Hell’s Kitchen in the MCU, along with showing the return of Frank Castle/The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Ben Poindexter/Bullseye (Wilson Bethel), and Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer). The footage also shows off new characters like Margarita Levieva‘s Heather Glenn, who has a very steamy moment with Cox’s Matt in the trailer.
After his fling with Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany) in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, it seems he’s moved on to someone else after returning to Hell’s Kitchen. Matt’s dating history in Marvel Comics is equally extensive as it is tragic. Even as a Catholic, prayers aren’t enough to save Matt’s romantic partners from terrible fates. Heather Glenn is not as well known as Karen Page, and for good reason, as her history with Matt is not a shining moment in Daredevil lore.
Matt Murdock Is a Devilish Fiend to Heather Glenn in Marvel Comics
Created in 1975 by Marv Wolfman and Bob Brown in Daredevil #126, Heather Glenn is the daughter of Maxwell Glenn, the CEO of Glenn Industries. She met Matt when she found him staying at her ex-boyfriend’s old place, and instantly found Matt attractive (as one does). Using her family’s wealth, she helped Matt open up a legal clinic for the less fortunate called the Storefront — which unfortunately doesn’t roll off the tongue as well as Nelson and Murdock. As Heather and Matt spent more time together, he eventually admitted his feelings for her, and the two started dating. Their relationship took a turn when Zebediah Killgrave/Purple Man (played by David Tennant in Jessica Jones) used his powers of persuasion to take control of Maxwell Glenn and make him complicit in kidnapping, embezzlement, and attempted murder. As Matt tried to find a legal way to prove Glenn’s innocence without compromising his secret identity, the guilt was getting to Glenn, causing him to take his own life while in police custody. Heather stumbled into her and Matt’s apartment to see Matt wearing his Daredevil costume and blamed him for her father’s death.
Heather broke up with Matt immediately after finding out his identity as Daredevil and would go on to be the new CEO of Glenn Industries. This made her a new target for Killgrave, who forced her to point a gun at her head, though Daredevil managed to save her at the last moment. Even though she now knew that Matt wasn’t to blame for her father’s death, it took some time for Heather to rekindle her relationship with Matt. He would later propose to Heather, but it was more of a way to make her a housewife than a grand gesture of his love for her. She refused to give up her career, which led Matt to conduct a criminal investigation against her company. After losing her father, taking away her company was a strangely dark turn for Matt. Foggy and Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (played by Scarlett Johansson in the MCU) then forged breakup letters to them. This led Heather down a spiral of drinking and serial dating, which repulsed Matt (oh the irony). Believing there was no chance of them getting back together, Heather took her life.

The series arrives in March 2025.
Heather Glenn Could Have a Tragic Story in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’
D’Onofrio shared with Collider that Daredevil: Born Again would be as dark as the original Netflix series, even hinting at something that’s never been on Disney+. The Daredevil: Born Again trailer didn’t shy away from showcasing just how violent this new MCU series will be, but hopefully, it doesn’t follow this dark storyline between Heather and Matt. Fans have fallen in love with Cox’s portrayal of Matt/Daredevil, so turning him into an emotional and verbal abuser would be a jarring decision for this iteration.
Based on the limited footage of Levieva’s Heather Glenn in Daredevil: Born Again shown so far, Matt and Heather have an undeniable, electric attraction. The show can still follow the source material by having Heather be a socialite or a high-level executive at Glenn Industries who crosses paths with Matt. The company could be involved in (newly-elected) Mayor Fisk’s secret criminal activities, causing Matt to investigate Glenn Industries. And in typical Matt Murdock fashion, he could be blinded by Heather’s allure and find himself torn between love and the mission.
Matt will have his inner demons to fight as he dons the Daredevil mantle once again after “a line was crossed,” as he teases in the trailer. There has been speculation that fan-favorite Daredevil characters Foggy or Karen could be killed off in Daredevil: Born Again, which could explain why Matt temporarily hangs up the suit. With the rise of new villains and love interests, Matt is going to have his hands full in Daredevil: Born Again.
Daredevil: Born Again premieres March 4, 2025, on Disney+.
