As the Fantastic Four gear up for their highly anticipated MCU debut, Silver Surfer seems to be on the chopping block as Marvel teases his death. It’s already been established that Norrin Radd won’t be the Silver Surfer who joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now he may be killed off ahead of the film’s release. Galactus’ most iconic herald may be nearing his end in his most ambitious story yet.
Via ComicBook.com, Marvel Comics has announced Death of the Silver Surfer, a five-issue miniseries that’s set to kick off on June 4th, 2025. Written by Greg Pak with art by Sumit Kumar, the series will follow Norrin Radd – more commonly known as the Silver Surfer – as he returns to Earth and is faced with a human who may lead to his untimely end.
This upcoming comic will raise the stakes higher than ever before for the Silver Surfer, potentially laying the groundwork for the MCU and setting up his replacement as Galactus’ herald and wielder of the Power Cosmic.
The Silver Surfer Is Marked for Death In Marvel’s New Miniseries
Norrin Radd Might Not Be the Silver Surfer For Much Longer
The Silver Surfer made his first appearance in Fantastic Four #48 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and he’s since become a fan-favorite character within the Marvel Universe. As Galactus’ herald, he has a duty to scout planets for the World-Eater to devour, and this conquest is what brings him to Earth for the first time. Although he initially serves Galactus’ interests, he’s gone on to turn against his master numerous times throughout his history, becoming an icon in his own right. The Power Cosmic at his disposal grants him astounding abilities, but even the energy bestowed upon him by Galactus can’t save him from death.
