Summary
Deadpool 3 will not only see Marvel‘s famous Merc with a Mouth team up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, but it will also bring him into the MCU timeline, so naturally, the film’s first trailer is highly anticipated. 2016’s Deadpool redeemed Wad Wilson in the eyes of viewers after Ryan Reynolds’s first disappointing iteration of the comedic character in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, bringing a truly authentic and hilarious iteration of the character to life. Following Disney’s purchase of 20th Century Fox, the MCU can now include X-Men properties, with Deadpool’s forthcoming outing bringing him into the continuity.
Despite Wolverine’s death in Logan, Hugh Jackman will return to the iconic role once again in 2024’s Deadpool 3, which, notably, will finally give Logan his beloved yellow costume from the comics as well. With Wolverine’s return, its MCU ties, potential multiversal cameos, and Ryan Reynolds’s own comedic charisma as Deadpool, it is no surprise that there is quite a bit of hype already surrounding Deadpool 3. With the film set to release on July 26th, 2024, it may be reasonable to suspect that the film’s first trailer will premiere sooner rather than later.
All Marvel Movies Releasing In 2024
The Marvel movies releasing in 2024 offer a range of film experiences – and some confusion, due to the changed dates of several incoming installments.
The Deadpool 3 Trailer Might Release At The Super Bowl 2024
Considering how highly anticipated Deadpool 3 is and its summer 2024 release date, the film’s first trailer could be released during Super Bowl LVIII, on February 11, 2024. This would further build hype for one of the MCU’s most exciting upcoming films while leaving plenty of room for additional trailers before its late July release date. Of course, this is no guarantee that Deadpool 3’s first trailer will be shown during the Super Bowl, as other MCU films have released their respective first trailers closer to the film’s premiere.
Marvel’s own record of releasing trailers used to suggest an average of around 155 days pre-release, but that much has fluctuated thanks to post-pandemic data skewing things slightly differently. Interestingly, comparing every MCU movie released in July, on average, Marvel released the first trailer 164 days before release. For Deadpool 3, that would mean February 13, just two days after the Super Bowl.

Deadpool 3
A sequel to the highly successful Deadpool and Deadpool 2 starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. The third film will be the first film in the franchise to be developed under the Marvel Studios banner following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Ryan Reynolds is returning to play the character, alongside Hugh Jackman, reprising his Wolverine role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time.
When Else Marvel Could Release The Deadpool 3 Trailer
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, notably, had its first teaser trailer (after a post-credits preview in Spider-Man: No Way Home) released during the 2022 Super Bowl, but it premiered in early May. No Way Home itself, whose multiversal premise may draw comparisons to Deadpool 3’s, released its first trailer around two months before the film’s release, so viewers should not be surprised if Deadpool 3’s marketing ramps up a bit closer to its July premiere. With this in mind, viewers should prepare themselves for the possibility that Deadpool 3 will not release a trailer during the Super Bowl.
There is, of course, the question of Comic Con 2024, which could see Marvel go big on announcements for the MCU’s future. Even with a number of confirmed upcoming MCU movies and TV shows, the event could be used as a showcase for more, to firm up confidence in the brand after a difficult period. There’s a possibility that some of Deadpool 3‘s marketing push could be centered on Comic Con 2024, but the timing is wrong, and the July event will come too close to release for anything but a final tease.
In general, the first trailer for a theatrical film will be released within 3-4 months before a film’s premiere. Considering that Deadpool 3 is the MCU’s only 2024 release and early marketing for the film has already begun, however, releasing a trailer for the film during the Super Bowl may be a wise choice for Marvel Studios.
