Marvel Rivals has reinvigorated the team-based hero shooter genre in the wake of duds like Concord and the underwhelming release of Overwatch 2. Part of what makes the game successful is its attention to various corners of the Marvel Universe throughout its publication history. If you’re a reader of Marvel Comics, then it’s immensely satisfying to see characters like Lin Lie’s Iron Fist, Magik, and Luna Snow included in the game’s roster alongside big names like Captain America, Wolverine, and Iron Man. 

Speaking of Luna Snow, it’s never been a better time to take a closer look at her character. Considering that Luna can play an immensely important role in saving her team from enemy attacks while also dealing out some impressive damage, she’s been a popular pick ever since Marvel Rivals was released. I’ve been a Luna Snow fan for years now, and it’s about time that she got the chance to shine in another Marvel property. 

Is Luna Snow a real Marvel character?

You bet she is. She was first created for the Marvel Future Fight game before making her comics debut in War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas #1 by Greg Pak, Gang Hyuk Lim, and Federico Blee. 

How powerful is Luna Snow?

Luna Snow is not to be trifled with. In Greg Pak, Nico Leon, and Pop Mhan’s Agents of Atlas miniseries, we can see her freezing enormous ocean waves and creating ice storms in collaboration with her teammates Aero and Wave. She also froze the head of a kaiju-sized serpent, and has flung ice shards like daggers at her enemies. 

What is Luna Snow’s power?

Luna Snow has cyrokinesis, or the ability to manipulate ice. In Marvel Comics, she works best when she’s near a body of water, as she can easily turn the water into ice to fling at her enemies, or freeze them. 

Is Luna Snow an Avenger?

So Luna Snow isn’t an Avenger, yet. That said, she has been on a couple of Marvel teams, principally the Agents of Atlas and Tiger Division. Luna was on the Agents of Atlas with Lin Lie, who you would know from Marvel Rivals as Iron Fist. When Luna and Lie were on the Agents of Atlas together, Lie was still Sword Master, and did not yet have the training and skills to become Iron Fist. The Agents of Atlas are a pan-Asian superhero team led by Amadeus Cho’s Brawn and Jimmy Woo 

Tiger Division is a group made up of South Korean superheroes led by Taegukgi. If it makes it easier, you can think of them as basically the Avengers of South Korea. On that team, Luna reunited with her Agents of Atlas teammate White Fox. 

What comics does Luna Snow appear in?

Luna Snow has not yet had a solo series of her own, but she has been featured as a main character in the aforementioned War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas miniseries, the Agents of Atlas follow-up miniseries, as well as the Tiger Division miniseries by Emily Kim and Creees Lee. During her time on the Agents of Atlas, she was also in the King in Black: Atlantis Attacks miniseries by Greg Pak and Ario Anindito. And don’t let the fact that she was in crossover event tie-in miniseries scare you off. Both War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas and King in Black: Atlantis Attacks hold up on their own if you haven’t read the main storyline. That said, I’m not discouraging you from reading the main War of the Realms and King in Black issues, because they’re both stellar stories.
