What If…? executive producer Brad Winderbaum teased what Marvel fans can expect from the highly-anticipated next installment to Disney+’s hit animated anthology series. It is based on the Marvel Comics’ classic comic book series about alternate timelines within the franchise’s multiverse, which was first published in 1977.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Winderbaum shared that What If…? Season 3 will probably be the next one in line to receive a release date from Marvel Animation’s official slate, following the successful Season 1 finale of X-Men ’97. He confirmed that production on the upcoming installment is nearing its completion, revealing that Season 3 will serve as a “culmination” of The Watcher’s story which began in Season 1. “What If…? Season 3 is — that might be the one that comes out next, in terms of animation,” Winderbaum said. “That is the culmination of a trilogy. We’re actually close to completing that one, and it really feels like you’ve gone through this amazing emotional experience with Uatu.”
