Marvel Comics just debuted a new powerful, primordial Storm God, and now it has confirmed that the upcoming “Thunder War” arc from Storm’s solo series will pit the X-Men hero against Hadad, an ancient threat who will apparently exhibit the true scope of his power by killing the OG cosmic Marvel character, Galactus.
Marvel just released the advanced details for Storm #10-12, written by Murewa Ayodele, with art by Lucas Werneck, along with a preview of the character design for Hadad, who is described as “the first and most powerful thunder god” in Marvel lore.
Not even Thor can seemingly dispute that claim, and now, it will be up to Ororo Monroe, who is currently ascending to new heights of power herself in the pages of her solo book, to face off against Hadad and prove who is truly the greatest among them.
Fresh Off His Introduction To Marvel Lore, Hadad Is Ready To Throw Down With Storm At Her Strongest
“Thunder War,” Storm #10-12, Written By Murewa Ayodele; Art By Lucas Werneck; Begins This July From Marvel Comics
Hadad formally debuted in Storm #9, and already he is being hyped up as one of the most formidable beings in the Marvel Universe, upending the already tenuous hierarchy of Marvel’s most powerful gods. While it is currently unknown what role Galactus might actually play in the “Thunder War” story arc, the use of the character on artist Mateus Manhanini’s cover for Storm #12 is striking, as it depicts Hadad triumphantly hovering in front of the skeletal head of the Devourer of Worlds, as Storm braces herself to confront him.
Galactus represents the old guard of cosmic Marvel characters, the one every subsequent god, or alien conqueror, is measured against. This is what makes it fitting that Hadad is shown to be a slayer of Galactus.
Even sixty years after his introduction, Galactus is still one of Marvel’s most imposing figures; more than just the sheer size of the character, he remains one of the most dangerous beings in the Marvel Universe. Beyond that, however, as the first ever cosmic threat in Marvel history, Galactus represents the old guard of cosmic Marvel characters, the one every subsequent god, or alien conqueror, is measured against. This is what makes it fitting that Hadad is shown to be a slayer of Galactus, at least on the cover of Storm #12.

Comic book covers tend to at least hint at what the issue will contain, and given that Marvel’s solicitation for the “Thunder War” arc describes Hadad as being “set to consume the universe,” there is a good chance readers will actually witness him taking down Galactus, or at least the aftermath of such, in Storm #12, if not before. The full scope of the story won’t be clear until it is complete, but one thing fans can be certain of is that Hadad’s role as an ultra-powerful Marvel antagonist is part of the publisher’s greater plan to elevate Storm.
