Marvel Comics’ Ultimate Universe will soon welcome its versions of Gambit and Kitty Pryde into the fold. The fan-favorite X-Men will debut in Christopher Condon and Alessandro Cappuccio’s Ultimate Wolverine #3, which will hit comic book shelves this March alongside several other Ultimate Universe titles.
Wolverine will arrive in the Ultimate Universe in January as an unwilling agent of The Maker, mind-wiped and used as an assassin. Per Marvel, Ultimate Wolverine #3 will pit the titular hero against the two mutants. The publisher’s description reads, “WOLVERINE VS. GAMBIT & KITTY PRYDE! The Winter Soldier leads a strike against two members of the Opposition: Kitty Pryde and Gambit! But do the duo recognize the man behind the mask?”

Following the end of the Krakoan age, Marvel mutants have a lot to rebuild in the upcoming X-Men series.
Kitty Pryde and Gambit are not the only well-known Marvel characters making their Ultimate Universe debuts in March. In Deniz Camp and Juan Frigeri’s Ultimates #10, Ultimate Namor and Ultimate Red Skull will be on opposite sides as the stakes heighten in the acclaimed book. “Captain America and the Human Torch lead a team to recruit their old comrade – Namor! But they’ll have to get through the Red Skull Gang first!” Marvel’s description reads.
Also coming in March is Jonathan Hickman and David Messina’s Ultimate Spider-Man #15, which will see Earth 6160’s Web-Slinger square off against Ultimate Sandman. A new mutant society will begin to take shape in Peach Momoko’s X-Men #13, and T’Challa will confront an ancient threat with the assistance of the Sorcerer Supreme in Byan Hill and Stefano Caselli’s Ultimate Black Panther #14.

Ultimate Wolverine scribe Condon helms Marvel’s most popular mutant in the Ultimate Universe and will bring other beloved X-Men characters to the party with Gambit and Kitty Pryde’s introduction in March. In a recent interview with CBR, the writer discussed his series potentially tying into Momoko’s Ultimate X-Men. “One of the great things about working for Wil Moss under the Ultimate label is that you’re given freedom to do whatever you want to do,” he said.
The Venom War: Daredevil writer continued, “If I had come onboard and requested that Ultimate Wolverine tie into Peach Momoko’s Ultimate X-Men, I’m sure we could’ve found a way to do that. But seeing how Deniz is handling The Ultimates, I wanted this to feel much more like a ‘character’ book than an X-Men or group book – smaller, contained, but still introducing some classic characters into the Ultimate Universe to tell an incredibly action-packed and, yes, violent story.”
Ultimate Wolverine #1 will arrive on January 15. Ultimate Wolverine #3, featuring Gambit and Kitty Pryde’s Ultimate Universe debut, will grace comic book shops in March 2025.
