Deadpool 3 will explore alternative realities and thus can include other Marvel heroes from outside the MCU, such as Maguire’s Spider-Man.

Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in new Deadpool 3 fan art, showing what it would look like if he teamed up with Deadpool and Wolverine. Ryan Reynolds is making his MCU debit in 2024, as the Deadpool 3 story will mark Wade Wilson’s official move to the Avengers-based universe while leaving the old X-Men universe behind. While it is unclear how Deadpool is joining the MCU, the Phase 5 movie is coming in the midst of The Multiverse Saga, with Reynolds’ upcoming installment rumored to be tackling alternative realities.

One of the big aspects of the MCU adventure is the return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, though there are also several other rumored Deadpool 3 cameos. While the world is still speculating who might show up in Deadpool 3, AGT Design recently shared new fan artwork for the film, with Reynolds’ Deadpool and Jackman’s Wolverine being joined by Maguire’s Spider-Man.

The Deadpool 3 fan poster sees the Marvel trio together at Joe’s Pizza, a nod to Peter Parker’s old job in Spider-Man 2. Maguire’s Spider-Man is also no stranger to multiverse storylines after he took part in 2021’s Spider-Man. No Way Home, where he shared the screen with Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men.

As amazing as the Deadpool 3 fan art is, it begs the question of whether or not any of Sony’s Spider-Men actors could actually be showing up in the Phase 5 installment. Prior to Deadpool 3 hitting pause on production due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, set photos revealed that the movie is seemingly going incredibly meta by including the actual 20th Century Fox studios, with rumblings that other Fox-Marvel characters are popping up in the film. Details like Jennifer Garner’s Elektra also being confirmed to return do suggest other Marvel heroes could similarly come back who aren’t from the MCU – especially since Maguire’s Spider-Man has already done so beforehand.

If Deadpool 3 is going to the lengths of tackling FOX’s previous Marvel movies – with the major theory that they are doing their own version of Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe – whether it be the X-Men or Fantastic Four films, it wouldn’t be shocking if they tried to work something out with Sony, too. Given Spider-Man: No Way Home’s massive success, Marvel Studios, and even Sony Pictures have to be aware that having any of their live-action Spider-Man show up in Deadpool 3 would be a major deal, especially if Maguire’s Peter Parker got to share the screen with Wolverine, as they were the early 2000s’ biggest superheroes at the time.

Even if Maguire’s Spider-Man is not in Deadpool 3, there is always the hope that he will be back for Avengers: Secret Wars alongside Jackman’s Wolverine. With The Multiverse Saga already pulling from other Marvel movies outside the MCU, it would be shocking if they actually didn’t have plans like that in place, whether it happens in Phases 5 or 6. But for now, the world will have to wait and see who is actually showing up in Deadpool 3.
