Thanks to the Spider-Verse, Marvel fans are about to get one of the most terrifying Spider-Man variants that’s ever existed. Before Marvel Comics’ upcoming Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse pits the spiders and the symbiotes against one another, the publisher is introducing a new kind of wall-crawler torn straight out of a Gothic novel.

While fans have gotten a brief glimpse of ‘Count Parker’ on the cover of the upcoming Spider-Verse: New Blood #1, Luciano Vecchio posted a design variant on X that showcased the blood-sucking wall-crawler. The cover shows off Count Parker’s costume, including his metal accents, a painted-on web pattern, and flowing ‘armpit cobwebs’.

But the real shocking part of Count Parker’s design is hiding in his mouth. Like all most vampires, this Spider-Man does indeed have fangs, but ones modeled after actual spider fangs. And if that wasn’t enough, this Spider-Man’s fangs can also move independently, just like a real spider.

Spider-Man’s Creepy New Variant is Count Parker, a Spider-Like Vampire

Count Parker is Already One of the Spider-Verse’s Creepiest Variants

Over the last decade, Spider-Man has become the lynchpin of the Spider-Verse, an expansive collective filled with multiversal variants of Marvel’s iconic hero. In addition to popular mainstays such as Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen, Marvel Comics has taken some wild swings when coming up with outrageous new variants. While some are fun, such as Spider-Rex, Spider-Mobile, or the lovable Spider-Ham, others take Spider-Man’s shtick in a more creepy or unsettling direction. Spiders-Man, for example, is a variant that’s a living colony of spiders which took the shape of a man after devouring Peter Parker and absorbing his consciousness.

While it’s not uncommon to see creepy or evil variants of Spider-Man in the Spider-Verse, Count Parker is certainly one of the most creative. It would have been easy to just turn him into a vampire and call it a day. But Count Parker’s design excellently blends elements of classic vampires with what fans expect of Spider-Man. The teeth are really what make Count Parker’s design work though (having them move independently like an actual spider is a stroke of genius). It’ll be interesting to see if Count Parker has what it takes to last beyond the next Spider-Verse event.

There’s So Much Potential with a Vampiric Spider-Man

Everyone likes seeing creative new Spider-Man variants, but the sad thing is they never seem to last very long once Spider-Verse stories wrap up. It’s clear a lot of thought was put into Count Parker, and it’d be a shame just to ditch him once this Spider-Verse saga is done. This kind of design brings a lot of questions about how he operates to mind and fans deserve to see him used to his full potential. Hopefully, there’s more to this Spider-Man than just a creepy design, because he looks like he could do some serious damage with those fangs.

Spider-Verse: New Blood #1 is available from Marvel Comics on March 5th.
