Stephen Dorff’s superhero disdain is not that different from other actors and filmmakers who openly call out the very foundation of superhero movies as not real cinema. For better or for worse, it has been a huge debate since the exordium of all the debate.

Of course, the debate soon engirdled pop culture, and it is nowhere near closing the evergrowing war of words anytime soon. Interestingly, despite being featured in Blade based on Marvel Comics, Dorff is very critical of superhero movies before wearing a suit for one.
Stephen Dorff Expressed His Dismay Over Superhero Movies

To its essence, Stephen Dorff’s Deacon Frost in Blade is one of the most recognized roles he ever played. However, the actor does not have a very positive remark about comic book movies or superhero movies— or perhaps both. But he candidly explained the heydays of superhero movies and why he hates modern superhero flicks.
“If comic-book movies were more like when I started when we made Blade or the few that have been decent over the years, like when Nolan did The Dark Knight and reinvented Batman from Tim Burton, who’s obviously a genius…when they were interesting, like when Norrington did Blade, and Guillermo [del Toro] was fucking around in it. But all this other garbage is just embarrassing, you know what I mean? I mean, God bless them, they’re making a bunch of money, but their movies s*ck [laughs]. And nobody’s going to remember them,” Dorff told the Daily Beast.
Further, to prove his point, the actor also took a jibe at DC, especially Black Adam. “Nobody’s remembering Black Adam at the end of the day. I didn’t even see that movie, it looked so bad,” he added. At least many fans will agree with Dorff on his Black Adam reference as it was a mitigated disaster for the studio.
Stephen Dorff Doesn’t Sound Happy With Blade Reboot

The news of the Blade reboot is perhaps one of the most talked about subjects for MCU fans. Of course, the new Blade reboot will star two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali. However, the project has been through several roadblocks, but fortunately for fans, they are being cleared at the moment. However, for the 50-year-old Dorff, the decision to make another franchise rebooting Wesley Snipes‘ original and acclaimed Blade trilogy is beyond being wise. Speaking with Daily Beast, he said:
“Marvel is used to me trashing them anyway. How’s that PG Blade movie going for you, that can’t get a director? [laughs] Because anybody who goes there is going to be laughed at by everyone, because we already did it and made it the best. There’s no Steve Norrington out there.”
Regardless, Blade is rolling out, and it already has a release date. Further, the Ali-starrer movie is going to be the second R-rated MCU project after Deadpool 3. White Boy Rick’s Yann Demange is all set to helm the movie. Blade (reboot) is scheduled for release on 7 November 2025.
