This week, during an interview with Chris Van Vliet, WWE‘s former World Heavyweight Champion, Damian Priest, talked about how he was supposed to have a role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, only for it to be taken away from him. While he didn’t say who wouldn’t let him be in the movie, we can guess that it was Vince McMahon. This is just the latest WWE superstar to nearly appear in a Marvel Studios film. Becky Lynch filmed a short post-credits scene for Eternals, and her husband, Seth Rollins, filmed a part for Captain America: Brave New World, but both saw their roles cut from the finished product. Still, other wrestlers have made the final cut of a Marvel movie.

Why Does Marvel Studios Hate The WWE So Much?

Several major WWE superstars have been cast in Marvel films, but none of them have ever appeared on screen.

“The Macho Man” Played Bone Saw McGraw

Bone Saw McGraw had a wrestling match with Peter Parker. Randy Savage hurt his neck during the filming of Spider-Man. Bruce Campbell recalled the fun “The Macho Man” had in his trailer.

Although 2000’s X-Men was a big success, it was Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man in 2002 that really kicked off the superhero movie phase. Starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, one of the earliest and most memorable scenes sees Parker, having been bitten by a radioactive spider, testing his powers as “The Human Spider” in a wrestling match with a beast of a man named Bone Saw McGraw. McGraw was played by “The Macho Man” Randy Savage after WCW came to an end. In his scene, Parker must last three minutes with Bone Saw. Not only does he do that, but he also becomes the NYWL Champion.

Sadly, Savage, who did his own stunts in the movie, hurt his neck during filming, which led to the end of his wrestling career. Still, it wasn’t all bad for “The Macho Man”. In an interview with Yahoo! Movies, Bruce Campbell talked about Savage bringing his girlfriend to the set and how they would get it on in their trailer during breaks. Campbell said:

“It didn’t matter where I sat. There was some girlfriending happening right next door, but it’s like a duplex with no insulation. So yep. He had fun working on that movie.”

2 Kevin Nash Was A Villain In ‘The Punisher’

A Stunt Gone Wrong Almost Killed Big Daddy Cool

In The Punisher, Kevin Nash played The Russian. Thomas Jane and Kevin Nash had a fight scene together. Kevin Nash was accidentally stabbed for real when a prop knife wasn’t switched in.

With the superhero boom well underway, The Punisher was made in 2004, with Thomas Jane starring as vigilante Frank Castle. In one scene, he shares the screen with Kevin Nash, who was playing a villain simply known as The Russian. Nash has been in several movies, from playing Super Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle II: The Secret of the Ooze, sharing a scene with Keanu Reeves in John Wick, and portraying an aging male stripper in the Magic Mike franchise, but his most memorable role will probably be from The Punisher, simply because it nearly killed him.

In one scene, Thomas Jane is supposed to stab Kevin Nash in the shoulder with a butterfly knife. He did just that, but accidentally used a real knife, as the prop guy had forgotten to switch out the real knife with a prop. The former Diesel took it like a champ, not even reacting to the blade penetrating his flesh. Jane spoke about the incident on The Rich Eisen Show, telling the host:

“Yeah, that was rough, and you know what made it worse? He was so nice about it. You’re like, ‘Oh my god, this guy’s going to knock me across the room.’ Just out of a reflex. He just sat there, looked at the knife, looked at me and shook his head.” (h/t

3 Triple H Played A Vampire In ‘Blade: Trinity’

The Game’s Character Was Named Jarko Grimwood

Wesley Snipes was the star of the Blade films. Triple H’s vampire character had steel fangs. Triple H had a fight scene with Ryan Reynolds.

An early comic book movie was 1998’s Blade, starring Wesley Snipes. After the success of it, and the Guillermo del Toro directed 2002 sequel Blade II, the trilogy was completed in 2004 with Blade: Trinity. Ryan Reynold and Jessica Biel co-starred in this sequel, as did Triple H. Before the Game was the creative head of WWE, he was playing a vampire in a Marvel movie.

In Blade: Trinity, Triple H was a vampire with steel fangs named Jarko Grimwood. Triple H even has a fight scene with Ryan Reynolds’ character, Hannibal King. Blade: Trinity might not have been a great movie, but at least we can say we once sort of saw Triple H do battle with Deadpool.

4 Dave Bautista Found Fame As Drax In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

Drax Was In Multiple MCU Films

Dave Bautista is the star of Knock at the Cabin and The Killer’s Game. Drax is Dave Bautista’s most famous role. Drax is given the funniest lines in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Those aforementioned roles were nice, small parts, but Dave Bautista’s stay in the MCU is a different story. Along with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and John Cena, Bautista has become one of Hollywood’s top actors. Just last year he was starring in M. Night Shyamalan’s Knock at the Cabin, and this year he can be found as the lead in The Killer’s Game. Bautista is by far most known, however, for playing Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

Bautista was in other movies before Guardians of the Galaxy, but Drax was his breakthrough role. He might not have been the lead, but he was up there, and he’s arguably the best character in the film. Drax might look scary and be able to fight anyone, but he is also hilarious, with Bautista often given the best lines. This wasn’t just a one-time outing either. Guardians of the Galaxy became its own trilogy, and Drax appeared in Avengers and Thor movies as well.
