The Problems With Magneto In X-Men From the Ashes, as today’s Unlimited Infinity comic reveals something hiding in plain sight (Spoilers)

Magneto adopts a leadership role, similar to Professor Xavier, but provokes fear instead of inspiration.
Revelations in X-Men: From The Ashes Infinity Comic #13 suggest Magneto is wheelchair-bound.
Magneto’s struggle mirrors themes from the Tanakh, as he seeks guidance from a Rabbi in Alaska.
A confrontation involving a vehicular collision hints at his inability.

In X-Men: From The Ashes, the X-Men monthly book by Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman book, are comprised of Cyclops, Beast, Magneto, Psylocke, Kid Omega, Temper, Magik and Juggernaut.

We had previously seen him at the end of the Fall Of X, with Professor Charles Xavier.

Now Magneto is taking a role akin to Professor Xavier.

But rather than inspiration, he seems to be provoking fear.

And it’s a role that Cyclops seems to find useful. But what is backing up that fear?

In today’s Marvel Unlimited X-Men digital comic, X-Men: From The Ashes Infinity Comic #13, we discover something very different as Magneto goes to Temple. In Alaska. Where Cyclops and his team, of

But we have only seen Magneto in his super-powered chair, and not using his powers. And in this opening we have The Beast persuading Magneto to go without the finery.

And he does. But it seems that the chair was not just for floating transport… it was for any transport. Magneto, like Charles Xavier, is without the use of his legs.

And even as he goes to Temple, and meets Rabbi Sagan (named after Carl Sagan perhaps?), and finds parallel with his own experience and that of the Tanakh…

His wheelchair is a presence, and it’s how he makes his exit at speed, notably using his hands rather than any other abilities…

…and then finds himself involved with a vehicular collision, unable to do what it seems would be most instinctive to a Magneto.

Magneto… powerless? What happened? And why have they been hiding it? And was this something intended to be revealed in a digital subscription Infinity Comic rather than the main X-Men title? Looks like we might have to subscribe to Marvel Unlimited to keep up with what’s going on in Alaska…
