WARNING! Spoilers for TVA #4
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has finally found its way into the comics’ universe, bringing Marvel’s two differing worlds together. An ambitious new series has been hinting at its ties to the MCU throughout its run by integrating characters from the Loki show’s TVA. Now, the TVA’s employees have now found their way to Earth-616, which means the MCU has directly connected to Marvel’s main continuity for the first time.
In TVA #4 by Katharyn Blair, Pere Pérez, Guru-eFX, and Joe Sabino, the Time Variance Authority is investigating an attack on Mobius. To figure out what really happened, the recruits look into mysterious visions that are afflicting people across the multiverse and seem to hold answers about Mobius’ fate.
TVA employees Spider-Gwen, Gambit, and Ingrid travel to Earth-616’s New Orleans in search of answers. Since this comic is heavily implied to take place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this could be the first official crossover between the MCU and the comics’ continuity, marking a pivotal moment in Marvel history.
It Seems The MCU Has Officially Crossed Into Earth-616’s Marvel Universe
The Marvel Cinematic Universe Finally Enters the Comics’ Continuity
The evidence for TVA being canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is piled high, enforcing the theory that this traversal between worlds is a genuine crossover between the MCU and the comics. For starters, the TVA features many characters from the MCU. These include Mobius, O.B., Miss Minutes, Sylvie, and more. The presence of live-action characters suggests that this comic is intended to be an MCU tie-in that bridges its continuity to that of Earth-616. Of course, the clearest example that this comic adheres to the MCU’s timeline is the inclusion of Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.

Marvel Is Quietly Paving the Way For a MCU Plot Twist With Help From the Scarlet Witch
Though the comics and MCU typically stay separate from one another, this new comic revelation may set up the Scarlet Witch’s MCU return.
During this issue, Spider-Gwen discovers Wanda Maximoff in the secret Department of Deferment, and this version of the Scarlet Witch bears a striking resemblance to her MCU counterpart. Gwen even remarks that this Wanda “looks like one who is supposed to be dead, squished by a mountain after a showdown with Doctor Strange”. This obvious reference to the Scarlet Witch’s presumed death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness solidifies her connection to the MCU, and it therefore insinuates that TVA is MCU-canon. If so, then the TVA’s trip to Earth-616 is a major milestone for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

TVA is paving the way for the MCU’s continuity and that of the comics to unite in unprecedented ways, and these heroes traveling to Earth-616 may just be the beginning for crossovers of this kind. The Time Variance Authority as a concept offers endless possibilities for excursions between universes, so there’s no reason to doubt that the MCU could cross over with the comics beyond this series. At long last, the divide between the MCU and the comics has been bridged, with the two continuities starting to intersect. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has found its way to Earth-616, potentially kicking off a new era of multiversal crossovers.
