[#item_full_content] [[{“value”:”The new Avengers: Doomsday trailer is now playing in theaters, and it showcases the X-Men, also revealing that major villains from the team’s history will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. I’m a fan of Marvel’s strategy to promote its next Avengers movie. With four trailers — or five, including the secret Avengers: Doomsday trailer — it is working well. Every week, more details about Avengers: Doomsday’s story are being revealed in character-centric teasers. The first trailer focused on Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, while the second spotlighted Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. Now, the third Avengers: Doomsday teaser released in theaters with Avatar: Fire and Ash is all about the X-Men, confirming that certain villains will be fighting the heroes.
The New Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Confirms The Sentinels Will Appear

Marvel’s new Avengers: Doomsday trailer includes three X-Men characters, the biggest mutants confirmed for the MCU movie so far: Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen’s Magneto, and James Marsden’s Cyclops. The footage shows the X-Mansion in ruins, with Professor X and Magneto together again. However, Cyclops’ moment in the teaser is clearly the biggest reveal of the footage. Not only do we finally see Marsden’s Cyclops wearing his classic blue and yellow X-Men suit from Marvel Comics, but he unleashes a powerful optic blast. While that is surely exciting, it is the shot’s background that reveals who Cyclops is fighting against. The giant feet of at least one Sentinel can be seen amid the rubble behind the Marvel hero.
How Avengers: Doomsday Can Finally Do Right By The X-Men Villains
The future Sentinels attack the X-Men in Days of Future Past
The new Avengers: Doomsday X-Men trailer reveal ties to previous set photos from the Avengers movie. On May 22, Avengers: Doomsday set photos showed what appeared to be the X-Mansion’s courtyard. Instead of looking pristine, the iconic Marvel movie location was filled with craters and Sentinel parts scattered throughout the property. It was clear that a major battle had taken place. Now, we know what the set photos were all about. On Twitter, @unboxphdfilm shared a closer look at one of the robotic parts lying on the set. There is no question about it being the torso of a Sentinel, looking incredibly accurate to the X-Men villains’ look in the comics and certain adaptations. On the latter point, the MCU can finally accomplish something.
The Sentinels have appeared in live-action X-Men movies before. They were seen in movies like X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse, appearing with advanced, Sci-Fi-like looks that made them look more alien than humanoid. However, Avengers: Doomsday’s Sentinel design is finally the classic one, marking a first for the X-Men in live-action.
