After debuting as Kamala Khan in the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel, Iman Vellani reprised the role for the big screen in 2023’s The Marvels. As the movie underperformed, it doesn’t seem likely to be given a direct sequel anytime soon. However, there are apparent plans for more to come from Ms. Marvel in the MCU, as Vellani shared in a recent interview with Polygon. She confirmed that she was told to expect to get called back to Marvel Studios at some point, though she wasn’t given any specific details beyond that.

Vellani teased, “I have been assured [Ms. Marvel will return]. So that feels good, but there was no more assurance than that. [laugh] They give me breadcrumbs, and I try and make a meal out of it.”
According to rumors, one major project that could serve as a return film for Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel is a Young Avengers movie. This has not been announced by Marvel Studios, but there have been rumors of a Young Avengers project coming together in the MCU. It would theoretically see Vellani’s Ms. Marvel uniting with Hailee Steinfeld’s Hawkeye, Kathyrn Newton’s Stinger, and other young superheroes. Vellani herself has teased her desire to see Young Avengers realized on-screen.

It remains to be seen how Ms. Marvel will return in the live-action MCU, but fans can expect to see an animated version of the character. Iman Vellani previously confirmed that her Ms. Marvel will serve as the “Frodo” for a group of surviving superheroes in the upcoming animated series Marvel Zombies. The show, which will come with a hard TV-MA rating, serves as a spinoff of a Season 1 episode of What If…?, which itself was based on the original Marvel Zombies comic books.
“We’ve done the whole thing. It was amazing. It was so much fun,” Vellani previously told The Direct in 2023, confirming she’d already completed her voiceoers. “And I love—there are a lot of cool characters in the Marvel Zombies show. And Kamala is kind of the center of the show. They described it to me, it’s like, ‘She’s basically the Frodo of the story.’ And I was like, ‘That’s amazing.'”
The Marvels is streaming on Disney+.
