Warning: contains spoilers for One World Under Doom #1!
The Marvel Universe is about to experience a shakeup as Doctor Doom makes a mistake that he cannot undo. In Marvel’s One World Under Doom event, the Latverian monarch achieves that which he has long sought: world domination. Doom is making moves across the world, including taking Doctor Strange’s Academy away from him, and as seen in a first look at Doom Academy #5, this may have been a mistake.
The main One World Under Doom book is written by Ryan North and drawn by RB Silva.
Marvel has released their solicitations for titles shipping in June, including Doom Academy #5, which will be written by MacKenzie Cadenhead and drawn by Pasqual Ferry. Set in the One World Under Doom event, the issue’s solicitation reads as follows:

Doctor Doom’s Dark Dream Has Finally Come True in One World Under Doom
Doctor Doom’s First Day in Power Summed Up His Approach to Ruling
Doctor Doom is Marvel’s premiere villain, a feat he achieved through mastery of both science and magic. One of Earth’s foremost intellects, Doctor Doom has used his considerable intellectual gifts for nefarious ends, and in Marvel’s new One World Under Doom, his dark dream is realized. At the conclusion of Marvel’s previous event, Blood Hunt, Doom took the Sorcerer Supreme title away from Doctor Strange. In true Doom fashion, he obtained the title through trickery and deceit. Earth’s heroes waited with bated breath for Doctor Doom to make his next move.
Doom’s “carrot and the stick” approach was also on display in One World Under Doom, as he ruthlessly killed a military man plotting against him.
The heroes’ worst fears came true in One World Under Doom #1, as he effectively took control of the world, declaring every nation a province of Latveria. Doom’s coup was nearly bloodless, as if the world’s leaders were somehow coerced into signing over control to him. Doctor Doom’s first act as leader of the world was to give access to healthcare and education to everyone on the planet, as well as kill Nazis. Doom’s “carrot and the stick” approach was also on display in One World Under Doom, as he ruthlessly killed a military man plotting against him.
Doctor Doom Is Now Shaping the Future of Magic on Earth
But the Strange Academy May Be Too Much For Even Him
Doctor Doom also took control of the Strange Academy, boosting his power further. The Academy, founded by Doctor Strange to teach and guide the next generation of magic users, features some of the most powerful sorcerers-to-be on Earth, including the child of Dormammu. This made the Strange Academy an appealing target for Doom, as controlling it ensured his own dominion over magic continued. No longer would Doctor Strange and Doctor Voodoo get to shape the future of Earth’s magic: now it will be Doctor Doom. This is dire news for all planes of existence.
