There’s no denying that Victor Von Doom is one of the biggest threats in Marvel Comics. Not only has he consistently proven to be a problem for The Fantastic Four, but he’s put the entire world at risk on more than one occasion. The truth is that Doctor Doom is a villain who will do whatever it takes to get what he wants, even if it is something truly evil.

Doctor Doom has always tried to maintain a specific image as a competent ruler. Sometimes, he’ll even go for the caring or benevolent look, though usually, that doesn’t stick too well. During the events of Doctor Doom #10, Doom is once again in a position of power. In this scene, Doom recently sees what it looks like to be a compassionate ruler.

So, Doctor Doom must decide whether to continue this path or return to something more familiar. The decision doesn’t take long, as Doom is presented with a prisoner—journalist Gregor Markovich. Deciding how to handle the man should have taken more time, but Doom doesn’t hesitate to order the journalist’s death. Worse, he demands the execution be carried out within the hour. People should always pay attention to how rulers treat journalists within their borders, and Doom’s actions make a clear statement.

Evil bots have a way of creating a lasting image in the Marvel Universe. That may be why Doctor Doom followed suit, creating his version called the Doombots. These bots were designed to be perfect replicas of Doctor Doom, complete with armor. Doom took the replication a step further, including psionic circuitry good enough to trick low-level telepaths into thinking the real Doom was in front of them.

The Doombots are infamous for terrorizing Marvel heroes, as they can be in multiple places at once. Likewise, they allowed Doom to act even more aggressively, as he could send these bots into situations that would otherwise be unsafe for Doom. Doctor Doom has always craved power. The more he had, the more he wanted. In Fantastic Four #57, Doom once again proved how far he’ll go to gain power. He steals the Silver Surfer’s board, taking on all the powers the Herald of Galactus calls to bear. In other words, Doom got a pretty big power boost.

The Herald’s role is not easy and comes with a grave responsibility. Doctor Doom didn’t care about that and instead used his newfound powers to target The Fantastic Four again. If not for The Thing, Doom would have defeated The Fantastic Four right then and there. Thankfully, power was soon restored to the rightful Herald. It’s terrifying to think what Doom would have done had his plan to defeat The Fantastic Four succeeded.

The series starts with her two sons searching for their mother, only to find her at the side of Doctor Doom. It quickly becomes clear that the Scarlet Witch is not there by choice. Doom has stolen Wanda’s memories and somehow tricked her into a marriage agreement. This whole scheme was arranged so that Doom could steal the Scarlet Witch’s powers.

Doctor Doom is a dictator through and through. He claims his actions are to protect Latveria, but he consistently moves to take over the world. One such attempt to rule the world occurred in Marvel Graphic Novel: Emperor Doom. In this story, Doom captures another villain in his quest for control.

Determined to take control of the world, Doom imprisons the infamous Purple Man and stuffs him in an amplifier. This machine amplifies the Purple Man’s power and gives Doom Direct control. The plan worked, giving Doom complete control over the world – for a time. What makes this whole scene so much worse is that Doom’s boredom gets the best of him. It turns out that mind controlling an entire world into submission takes away the challenge. It’s fortunate that Doom’s plans don’t usually work according to plan.

The demons required the death of a loved one to seal their pact with Doom. The fact that Doctor Doom was willing to sacrifice the life of somebody close to him speaks volumes. Unfortunately, it gets worse. Valeria’s death was not quick or kind. Doom uses magic to flay the woman alive before transforming her skin into magical armor. While killing Valeria, Doom continued to justify his actions and profess his love for the woman. It was a twisted scene that sickened many.

Doctor Doom took advantage of the situation to become God Emperor Doom. He had already shaped one world to his liking and wanted to become ruler of the second one. This is one of the highest power levels Doom has ever achieved, giving him complete control of those around him. To showcase his power, Doom even had a small legion of Thors under his command.
