Daisy Ridley, known for her role as Rey Skywalker in Star Wars, recently expressed interest in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and even becoming part of the Avengers. While promoting her latest film, Cleaner, Ridley discussed her love for both Marvel and DC, mentioning her admiration for Batman and The Penguin. She confirmed that if Marvel approached her for a role, she would be “open to” joining the franchise.
While promoting her film Cleaner, Daisy Ridley was asked by ComicBook about joining the MCU and responded, “Look, I’m open to loads of stuff. I work with this amazing second AD called Matthew Sharp, and he texts me cause he’s doing Avengers, and he goes, ‘If they call.’ So I was like, ‘If they call, absolutely.’” Ridley also mentioned her love for Batman and The Penguin, stating, “I’m a fan of so many sorts of films. Yeah, I’m open to everything.”
Ridley is widely known for playing Rey Skywalker in Star Wars, where she stood out in the sequel trilogy. Lucasfilm plans to expand her character’s story with a new film focused on the Jedi Order.
The movie has changed writers multiple times. George Nolfi recently took over after Steven Knight left in October 2024. Before Knight, Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson worked on the script. Lucasfilm announced Ridley’s return at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, confirming the film will explore Rey’s efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order.
Meanwhile, Lucasfilm is developing The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, scheduled for release in 2026. The movie will transition The Mandalorian series from Disney+ to the big screen. Additionally, Ryan Gosling is reportedly negotiating to star in a new Star Wars film directed by Shawn Levy (via The Hollywood Reporter). The project will serve as a standalone movie, separate from the Skywalker Saga.
Ridley’s latest film, Cleaner, will premiere in theaters on February 21, 2025.
