Spider-Woman
#4, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
Spider-Woman finally discovers the heartbreaking origin behind her new worst enemy.
Spider-Woman #4 picks up where the previous issue left off, with Jessica Drew facing off against the villainous Green Mamba who, unfortunately for them both, has been revealed to be her lost son, Gerry Drew. As Gerry explains, it was when Jessica was removed from reality during the war against the insectile Shathra that he fell into Hydra’s clutches. Through a program that monitors young heroes, or villains, in waiting, Hydra kidnaps the then-infantile Gerry before subjecting him to the same sort of accelerated growth procedures that Jessica herself underwent decades prior.
Rise of the Powers of X Confirms One X-Men Icon is Stronger Than Dominion
Rise of the Powers of X proves that not even Dominion can keep up with one of the Marvel Universe’s most iconic mutant heroes.

Introduced in 2016’s Spider-Woman #4 by writer Dennis Hallum and artist Javier Rodriguez, Gerry was born to Jessica after an especially harrowing labor process that resulted in an emergency C-section. Conceived via artificial insemination, Gerry quickly became the only aspect of her life that Jessica was concerned with, nearly leading her to leave behind the superhero lifestyle altogether. Instead, Jessica returned to being Spider-Woman in the hopes of showing her son firsthand exactly how to be a hero.
It was in 2022’s Spider-Man #1 by writer Dan Slott and artist Mark Bagley when Spider-Woman was temporarily erased from the timeline. After being stabbed by an ancient, mystical dagger, Jessica became untethered from the Web of Life and Destiny which effectively maps every life in the Multiverse. While Jessica and others who suffered the same fate were eventually returned to their proper place in the Marvel Universe, things have been anything but the same since then.
Marvel Introduces Wolverine’s Next Worst Enemy in Edge of Spider-Verse
Weapon X meets his match courtesy of the Spider-Verse’s most recent lethal protagonist — and he is far from a hero.
From nearly the moment she came back into existence, Jessica has desperately searched for her missing son, who almost no one else seemed to have any recollection of whatsoever. Marvel Comics’ ongoing Gang War proved to be the perfect opportunity for Spider-Woman to vent her frustrations, as well as hunt down any potential leads as to where her son went. It has also been Hydra’s perfect opportunity to torment Spider-Woman with that very same son now that he is embedded deeply within their ranks.
