Marvel Comics is setting its Spider-Verse and Venom-Verse characters on a collision course, leading to a crossover that will change both forever.

While Marvel’s Venomverse Contains The Multiverse’s Most Dangerous Symbiotes

Alongside the first official details and artwork, writer Mat Groom shares the excitement and long-awaited spectacle that the crossover event is finally making a reality:

“When Dan Slott and Olivier Copiel launched the SPIDER-VERSE in 2014, it transformed the Spider-Man mythos and completely took over the world. Since then, creators like Donny Cates, Al Ewing and Ram V have transformed the Venom mythos in a way that is arguably just as vital and transformative. Crashing these worlds together is a genuine honor and a privilege— and it gives us an opportunity to push both sides to the breaking point, so we can all discover whether the Spider and Symbiote communities hold strong against the oncoming storm… or if they crack under the pressure!”

The appeal of this series is obvious, with Marvel’s Multiverse most beloved for its ability to explore alternate versions of characters. The Spider-Verse has taken this to the absolute limit, introducing a version of Spider-Man who was part of Weapon X, and turning beloved characters like Gwen Stacy into the iconic Ghost-Spider. At the same time, Venom has been a villain and an anti-hero, but across the Venomverse he has been so much more. Dinosaur versions of Venom, futuristic reimaginings, and even a Black Panther Venom, to name a few.

The Spiderverse has been destroyed and recreated several times already, and the Venomverse has been equally caught up in major battles. These fights have always been against external forces, but now they will be facing each other head-on, with the Spider-Verse desperately wanting to protect the Web-Heart, and the Venomverse needing to keep the Hive-Mind alive. With the Venom symbiotes penchant for merging with Spider-related characters, it’s possible that this is one fight that Spider-Man and his variants aren’t going to win.

Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse begins in May 2025 from Marvel Comics.

Spider-Man

Spider-Man is the name given to several individuals who have employed a spider-moniker throughout Marvel Comics. Typically gaining their powers through a bite from a radioactive spider, the different Spider-Man heroes employ super-strength, agility, and intellect while utilizing webbing to swing and tangle up their foes. The most notable of these Spider-Men is Peter Parker, who remains one of the most popular superheroes throughout the world.

Venom

Venom is a symbiotic alien entity bonded with various human hosts, notably Eddie Brock and later Flash Thompson. It grants superhuman strength, agility, and a shape-shifting black costume. Initially a Spider-Man villain due to its origins, Venom evolved into an antihero, battling both villains and his own dark impulses. The character embodies themes of duality and redemption within the Marvel Universe.
