The Marvel Cinematic Universe could always use a little more girl power. According to a new rumor, Marvel Studios was developing a Daughters of Liberty project before the WGA strike which could have featured the likes of Agatha Harkness, Shuri, and Echo.

The Daughters of Liberty are far from the most prominent team in Marvel comics, only appearing in a handful of Captain America issues written by Ta-Nehsi Coates, which is why it’s so shocking that a new rumor by DanielRPK states an MCU project featuring the team was in the works before the WGA strike.

In the comics, the Daughters of Liberty featured members ranging from MCU staples like Agatha Harkness, Shuri, and Echo; along with new faces like Invisible Woman and White Tiger. It’s currently unclear if this project was a movie or a tv show or if it will survive the WGA strike. However, given it stemmed from a Captain America comic, it’s possible new light will be shed on the team in Brave New World.

Details regarding the plot of Captain America: Brand New World are being kept under wraps. Thunderbolt Ross (Harrison Ford) and The Leader (Tim Blake Nelson) are expected to serve as the main villains of the movie, which is currently in production for a May 2024 release.

Julius Onah is directing Captain America: Brand New World, working from a script by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. The cast of the movie also includes Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley and Shira Haas as Sabra, with Xosha Roquemore on board in an undisclosed role.

Captain America: Brand New World is currently slated to hit theaters on July 26, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
