For the first time in 27 years, Rob Liefeld‘s Extreme Universe is invading the real-world with a line of action figures. Figures of the Bloodstrike character Cabbot Stone as well as the intergalactic mercenary Bloodwulf will arrive in the third quarter of this year, the comic book creator announced.
Liefeld, best known for Marvel’s Deadpool, has teamed with LooseCollector, a collectibles company specializing in action figures and statues. In a statement, founder Dave Cardenas said he expects to expand into more Extreme Universe characters in 2025.
Liefeld debuted Bloodstrike and Bloodwulf in 1992 in the pages of Image Comics, the indie publisher he and six other former Marvel and DC artists launched that year. Each sold more than 1 million copies, showing the appetite for new characters in the early ’90s comic book boom.
In addition to the action figures, Liefeld has the Bloodstrike: Battle Blood collection out from Image in May. He is also developing a Bloodstrike movie with Deadpool stunt coordinator Phillip J. Silvera. In recent years, Liefeld has brought on other partners to develop takes on Extreme Universe. Producers Akiva Goldsman and Graham King were once attached to a Bloodstrike movie, while Netflix also took a stab at the universe. Those options have since expired, with the rights back in Liefeld’s hands.
“Cabbot Stone has never looked better,” Liefeld said in a statement. “It’s like he jumped off the page of Bloodstrike No. 1. Bloodwulf looks amazing; we couldn’t be re-entering the action figure space with better figures.”
