The bromance between Logan and Wade, immortalized in Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine movie, appears to be officially over in the upcoming comic series, Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time. While the series hasn’t been released yet, the artwork promises a savage, no-holds-barred clash between Marvel’s most infamous murder buddies.

…Deadpool may face never-before-seen and darker interpretations of Wolverine…

Set to release on April 2, 2024, Cullen Bunn and Dalibor Talajić’s Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time #1 launches a series that sees Wade once again targeting the multiverse. This time, however, the Merc with a Mouth sets his sights on the worst of the worst—Marvel’s greatest heroes turned evil.

The synopsis teases Deadpool facing off against world-breaking Hulks, werewolf Captain Americas, and other twisted versions of Marvel’s most iconic legends. And if Leinil Francis Yu’s brutal variant cover is any indication, fans can expect at least one, if not more, violent confrontations between Deadpool and some sinister versions of Wolverine.

Deadpool Impales Wolverine With His Katanas In Brutal Art for New Comic Series

Greg Land Variant for Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time #1 (2025)

Leinil Francis Yu’s variant cover for Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time #1 showcases a carnage-filled scene in which Wade has Wolverine impaled on his signature twin katanas, lifting the X-Man above his head in a clear display of victory. This brutal defeat not only signals the end of their battle but also seemingly marks the death of the bromance many fans associate with Wade and Logan, thanks to Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine movie. While this is only a variant cover and unlikely to dictate the story’s narrative, it strongly hints at an intense confrontation between the two heroes that fans won’t want to miss.

The presence of Wolverine on other variant covers for this issue further supports the idea that this series will deliver a savagely bloody clash between the two icons. Chad Hardin’s variant, for instance, doesn’t depict a direct fight but shows Wade holding the bloody, decapitated heads of Thor, Venom, and Hulk, while a snarling Wolverine looms ominously in the background. Similarly, Greg Land’s variant cover features Deadpool juggling the severed heads of Wolverine, Iron Man, and Spider-Man. With half of the released covers prominently featuring Wolverine in some form, it’s all but certain that blood will be shed between Wade and Logan in this highly anticipated series.

Chad Hardin Homage Variant Cover for Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time #1 (2025)

Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time sets the stage for Wade to take down Marvel’s most iconic heroes turned dark, with sinister versions of Wolverine almost guaranteed to fall victim to his blade. The Hydra Wolverine from Earth-1720, a completely immoral and evil version of Logan, seems like a prime candidate. However, the synopsis teases “all-new twisted takes” on Marvel’s greatest, suggesting Deadpool may face fresh, darker interpretations of Wolverine as well, raising the anticipation for this already highly anticipated series.
