Let’s all be thankful that saving the world a few times hasn’t dulled Paul Rudd’s comedy chops. The “Death of a Unicorn” star was on “The Tonight Show” last night when he made a timely joke about Marvel’s famous secrecy.

Paul Rudd’s name was one 27 actors mentioned as part of the cast of next year’s “Avengers: Doomsday.”

When host Jimmy Fallon asked Rudd if there was anything at all Rudd could tell the show about the movie, the “Ant-Man” star joked, “There is nothing that I can tell you. They are very secretive. It’s really — it’s important. Clearly, as we know, they never announce anything. This is, you know, it’s a major movie. You can’t be frivolous with this kind of stuff. It’s nothing like, you know, military secrets or anything. This is a major motion picture.”

“This is not something you put in a group chat,” Fallon said.

“It’s not like any kind of coordinated attack anywhere,” Rudd kept joking.

All joking aside, Marvel truly is known for its commitment to secrecy, which is exactly why the cast of “Avengers: Doomsday” is all we know about the movie; even then, it’s been teased by Marvel that more names are going to be added to the cast list in the coming days.

There are some things we can safely guess at – namely, that “Avengers: Doomsday” will have a lot to do with the multiverse.

With all the actors from both “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and the original “X-Men” films, it seems clear that some kind of cross-multiverse meeting is about to happen between them and the Marvel Prime heroes. Some have even speculated that the heroes will clash over the multiverse – something that was hinted at in a post-credits scene for “Captain America: Brave New World.”

“Avengers: Doomsday” hits theaters May 1, 2026. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. It stars Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr.
