Ben Grimm/ The Thing was created by comic book legends Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1961. In the comics, he was introduced as one of the founding members of the Fantastic Four. Just like the rest of the team, he acquired his powers through accidentally getting exposed to cosmic radiation. The Thing was first played by Michael Bailey Smith and Carl Ciarfalio in the 1994’s live-action film adaptation. They were succeeded by Chiklis, who appeared in the 2005 version and in 2007’s Rise of the Silver Surfer. In 2015, Sony once again released a Fantastic Four reboot, with Jamie Bell playing the superhero. At the time of writing, Marvel Studios had yet to make any announcement regarding its official Fantastic Four cast, but recent rumors point out that The Bear star Ebon Moss-Bachrach might be the studio’s top choice for the MCU’s The Thing.
