Marvel’s most proactive team of mutant heroes are about to get crushed by one of their own.
After suffering yet another attack by the menacing Corazon Estrada, aka La Diabla, the eponymous heroes of X-Force #7 find themselves at odds over closely-held secrets and the near disastrous results of keeping them. Unfortunately, that isn’t the only problem facing Forge’s team, as their jet experiences a sudden explosion that sends everyone flying. Everyone, that is, save for Colossus, whose arrival heralds nothing but death and destruction for his former allies.

Introduced back in Len Wein and Dave Cockrum’s “Deadly Genesis!” from the opening pages of 1975’s Giant-Size X-Men #1, the mutant powerhouse known as Colossus was born Piotr Rasputin. The son of a humble Russian family of farmers, Piotr’s mutant ability to transform himself into a near-unbreakable metal juggernaut made him a prime pick for Professor Xavier’s X-Men. In the years since then, Colossus has been at the center of some of the most important storylines in X-Men history, including the original Legacy Virus saga, which he gave his own life to bring to an end.
During the Krakoan Era, Colossus became a more prominent figure than ever, albeit not in the way anyone had hoped. Thanks to the malevolent machinations of his brother Mikhail and the reality-bending mutant Chronicler, Colossus was unwittingly turned into a mole for the opposition. Specifically, Colossus was secretly feeding information to the anti-mutant organization known as XENO, even after he had been appointed a member of Krakoa’s Quiet Council and its security forces. Fortunately, Colossus was able to regain control of himself with the help of his allies, allowing him the opportunity to fight for mutantkind once more in the final charge against Orchis.

Marvel’s other Spider-Man has finally uncovered the patron deity he didn’t even know he had, and they are already his biggest problem.
With the fall of Krakoa, the mutant technopath Forge took it upon himself to try and take on calamitous threats before they could emerge. In the hopes of doing just that, Forge created the Analog, a device that can predict and pinpoint such disastrous occurrences ahead of time. With that kind of foreknowledge of impending catastrophes, X-Force have become one of if not the single most proactive team of mutant heroes to date. At the same time, the Analog has no way of cluing the team in to what specific threats they are headed for, which has already proven to be a tragic flaw due to the untimely demise of X-Force’s very own Surge.

X-Men
Since their debut in 1963, Marvel’s X-Men have been more than just another superhero team. While the team really hit its stride as the All New, All Different X-Men in 1975, Marvel’s heroic mutants have always operated as super-outcasts, protecting a world that hates and fears them for their powers.
Key members of the X-Men include Professor X, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Wolverine, Iceman, Beast, Rogue, and Storm. Often framed as the world’s second strongest superheroes, after the Avengers, they are nonetheless one of Marvel’s most popular and important franchises.
